Three bodies of law govern the use of U.S. military force against Iran:
1) U.S. domestic law, first and foremost including the Constitution
2) jus ad bellum, eg Article 2(4) of the UN Charter
3) jus in bello, aka the law of war, LOAC, IHL

Suggest including Oswald Mosley, vicious and slimy fascist. Wonder if any of your students will remember him from Peaky Blinders!
Gov Jared Polis (D) describes himself as a libertarian. Here, an actual libertarian (and friend of the Gov) Ross Kaminsky of @koacolorado.bsky.social offers a rebuttal to Polis' latest justification of potential clemency for Tina Peters.
Reading people. Body language. Knowing how to connect with people totally unlike you and with different backgrounds and beliefs. Defusing tense situations. Gaining trust. High endurance, pain tolerance, and work ethic. Reaction time. Prioritizing order of execution. Anticipating people’s needs. Tons
Incredible opinion. It holds that the common ICE tactic of jumping out of an unidentified rental vehicle and seizing suspected noncitizens while masked violates the Fourth Amendment because the *manner* of the seizure is incompatible with a free society governed by the rule of law.
Yesterday morning kids were sent running from their bus stop in panic because ICE showed up. This guy at today’s ICE Out of Lindenwold protest is a must watch 😭. @maddow.bsky.social
another guy who never protested before radicalized to the point of tears by watching masked ICE agents terrify children in his neighborhood
the Republicans are not ready or mentally capable of comprehending the backlash they have generated

My almost 105 year old abuelita-in-law is VERY excited for Bad Bunny. She came from the island, and for her entire life, she’s been an American citizen! Voted for FDR! 🇵🇷🇺🇸
If you don’t already, give @atherton.bsky.social a follow! He’s absolutely brilliant, I’ve been reading him for ages and he’s based in Albuquerque
If you campaigned for the presidency on a promise to destroy these assholes, you would win a landslide the size of FDR in 1936, when he campaigned on a promise to destroy these assholes.
Jew in Amsterdam here. Please use Anne Frank as a comparison point to explain how state persecution of scapegoats impacts children, that is the point of her example, thanks
every agent on the screen knows who the other ones are. Someday, we'll offer partial amnesty to the first non-shooter who reveals the identities of the others. that day will come.
It appears that this legend owns a little bookstore — and you can order books from him instead of Bezos. Link in next post.
Longtime counterterrorism and countering violent extremism practitioner here, and yes, this woman and her community have absolutely experienced state terrorism in an environment of unrelenting stochastic terrorism.
let the dam in your heart shatter, and the pain that floods forth compel you to action
Can’t get over that Pretti’s parents yesterday woke up thinking everything was normal and by the end of the day they were watching the federal government trash their dead son.
Now that blood is on the street, we still won’t admit you’ve been right all decade long while we scolded and marginalized you. Instead, we’ll declare it’s just now become right to say such things.
To repeat: Abolish ICE.
You don’t know your role yet maybe, but we are all finding out just what we have to offer.
In Minneapolis, one man knew immediately what he could offer and said “Bring me your clothing”.
Screenshot of headline reading: Trump Links His Push for Greenland to Not Winning Nobel Peace Prize In a text, President Trump told Norway’s prime minister that he no longer felt obliged to “think purely of Peace” and that the U.S. needed the island for global security.
Invoke the 25th Amendment.
After federal troops forced a fugitive slave named Anthony Burns back into slavery in the 1850s, one Bostonian wrote, “we went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, Compromise Union Whigs and waked up stark mad Abolitionists.” The abuse of power radicalizes people. We are seeing that now.
I recently ran for my local city council, and it was a grueling, intimidating, exhausting experience. And that’s for a part-time job that pays $10k a year! Can’t imagine how insane running for Congress must be. Agree in bumping their pay (and their staff’s pay) mightily alongside trading bans.
This breaks my heart.
Me too!
Pretty disappointed that Boulder Weekly surveyed all us Lafayette City Council candidates (a really solid group of ten) and then just… never published our responses.
I’m very much in favor of that, would love to see it come to Lafayette! Along with ranked choice voting.
How do you respond to folks who fairly raise concerns about the local races being subsumed by the state and federal spotlight?
I don’t understand how this is legal?
I hope @philweiser.bsky.social is on the attack here!
Thank you so much!! If you have any pals in Lafayette please spread the word :-)
