This is no different from Putin saying MH17 was shot down by Ukraine or Assad saying rebels gassed themselves.

Caitlin KALINOWSKI over X

I resigned from OpenAl. I care deeply about the Robotics team and the work we built together.
This wasn't an easy call. Al has an important role in national security. But surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got. This was about principle, not people. I have deep respect for Sam and the team, and I'm proud of what we built together.

OpenAI head of robotics just resigned over company deal with the Pentagon saying…

“Surveillance of Americans without judicial oversight and lethal autonomy without human authorization are lines that deserved more deliberation than they got”

The Rot Is Real And There Is More To It The Atlantic Piece Just Scratched The Surface

Just sent out a free piece to expand on my article in @theatlantic.com yesterday. The signs of rot in US military and diplomatic capabilities are real and even more extensive than I could say in that article. Here are more-and a gift link to the original article. open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

Trump saying it is OK that Russia is helping Iran kill Americans has even the most MAGA-addled unable to respond. They have nowhere to go, except express blind loyalty to their master. If he says it, it must be right.

« De Gaulle n'est pas le père irréprochable de la résistance magnifié par des Français auxquels il procure le frisson d'un combat pour la liberté par procuration. Il refuse aujourd'hui d'arrêter une guerre qu'il a perdu et d'accepter la Paix du Général Pétain » (traduisons-le en juin 1940)

More Patriot missiles used in Middle East in 3 days than in Ukraine since 2022, Zelensky says President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated that Ukraine is ready to provide drone interceptors in exchange for missiles, though he did not specify which countries could be involved.

This is a fucking travesty.

“In just three days of fighting in the Middle East, more than 800 Patriot missiles were used — more than Ukraine has received throughout the entire Russian full-scale invasion.”

(A year’s worth of production or more, btw)

Oil up by $12 a barrel in less than 12 hours.

Gas prices skyrocketing.

Almost 100,000 jobs lost last month.

Another war in the Middle East.

Are we great again yet?

The Most Chilling Detail in the U.S. Attack on an Iranian Naval Ship The Iranian warship was taking part in an international exercise with many other countries—including the United States.

This is a chilling crime. A shame on our country. The Iranian ship was unarmed. The US knew this. The sailors were murdered by our navy, and the survivors were left to die at sea.

If it’s true that the United States bombed an elementary school and killed scores of children it is an unfathomable crime. I have never been more disgusted to be an American.

Opinion | An Urgent Need to Contain Turkey If the Iranian regime falls, beware Ankara’s regional influence.

In which a Wall Street Journal op-ed explicitly compares Erdogan to the Ayatollah after the fall of Saddam Hussein and implicitly makes the case for an eventual war of aggression against Turkey by the US and Israel.

A lone battle: Why is Pedro Sánchez the only European leader to take on Trump? As the Spanish PM decries the war in Iran, other politicians are unable – or unwilling – to speak against the US president

It's a good question. Where did all the other European leaders leave their spines?

WAR CRIME BY THE US.

An unarmed Iranian ship was takIng part in an Indian naval exercise, alongside the US.

The US withdrew and torpedoed the Iranian ship.

THEN the US refused to rescue the sailors, letting them drown.

This is treachery, cowardice, cruelty and a war crime of the highest order.

America vs. the World President Trump wants to return to the 19th century’s international order. He will leave America less prosperous—and the whole world less secure.

”The consequence of a newly unreliable and even hostile United States, therefore, will likely be significant military buildups by former allies. This will not mean sharing the burden of collective security, because these rearmed nations will no longer be American allies.”

Musk, worth $829 billion, owns X.

Bezos, worth $234 billion, owns The Washington Post & Twitch.

Zuckerberg, worth $231 billion, owns Facebook, Instagram & WhatsApp.

And now Larry Ellison, worth $202 billion, is about to control CNN, CBS, TikTok & HBO.

Yes, this is oligarchy.

When we talk about Baby Boomers not getting off the stage: In 1997, the US president was born in 1946.

In 2007, the US president was born in 1946.

In 2017, the US president was born in 1946.

And next year in 2027? The US president will have been born in 1946.

So perhaps we can all openly agree at this point at the United States represents the current greatest threat to global peace and security.

The options that the US and Israel have engineered for Iranians are increased repression from the Iranian state or full state collapse. Anyone who thinks liberation is on the other side of these bombs, I don’t know what to tell you.

The US is forever proclaiming that this or that region will be better off without this or that bad guy, all the while drenching those regions in bombs, fire, and the ashes of innocents. I don't want Congressional authorization for any of that; I want mass realization of it.

The Nihilism of Trump’s War Games - Truthdig At home and abroad, demonstrating strength through punishment is more important than “victory.”

The point of Trump wars is the war. There are plans for condos, but no peace. He preens, extorts what he can, and loses interest, assuming he began with any. What's left is a killer opportunity with no excuse left for it but civilizational extremism that ends either in futility or war crime.

Greg nails it here. "Vanity war."

(It might be worse; it's possible that instead of no vote in Congress, there could be a vote *against* the war in at least one chamber.)
