Spain’s MEP Irene Montero speaking to reporters

Spain’s MEP Irene Montero speaking to reporters

Irene Montero: No woman has ever been freed by American bombs or illegal aggression — Not in Syria. Not in Iraq. Not in Afghanistan. It will not happen in Iran either

When they want to sell their oil wars, their wars for profit, their imperial wars — they hide behind women’s rights to justify them

The U.S. war on Iran is now estimated to cost $1 billion per day. Meanwhile Americans are told there’s no money for healthcare, hospitals, or basic social programs.

Balint to Noem: "You're the secretary of DHS -- for now. And you think you're immune from accountability. But I promise you this: one day he is not gonna be president anymore. And when that day comes, we will still be here. And in hearings like this, we are going to continue to prove your guilt."

For 100+ years fossil fuels had subsidies, tax breaks, military protection, pollution externalized & zero carbon pricing. Renewables and EVs get a short-term rebate and suddenly it’s “market distortion.” If combustion was truly superior, it wouldn’t need a century of life support. #Bettrification ⚡

A stark cover editorial in The Lancet.

When one of the world’s leading medical journals speaks this plainly, it’s not politics, it’s a warning about trust in science and public health.

Rebuilding trust takes decades. Losing it only take a few months.

That should concern us all.

Electric vehicles deliver radical emissions cut – driven by the federal tax exemption The Electric Car Discount has had its naysayers, but it's definitely doing what it promised: boosting EV sales and cutting transport emissions.

Australia’s FBT exemption cuts transport emissions > live. By lowering upfront costs, it’s accelerating #EV uptake (~13% of new sales) & pushing petrol emissions below pre-COVID levels. Policy shifts > markets. Incentives + standards = structural decarb. #Bettrification keeps winning ⚡

Vaccination is one of the most effective science-led public health interventions EVER.

Eroding trust in science directly harms children when adults meant to protect them pretend they know better.

Parents and lawmakers - Do your job: listen to scientists and protect our kids.

It’s so sad to see our Tax $ going to an industry that direct harms human health and the planet, while scientists working on the cures for said issues are severely underfunded.

$30 Million each day. Imagine how many science labs that would fund.

Australia, time to do better!

Let’s not forget EVs are still early in their cycle and rapidly evolving. 5 years from now there will be a lot more 2nd hand EVs, and prices for new vehicles will cover the spectrum from affordable to luxury. Just like how ICE vehicles currently do.

Despite the rise in renewables now taking over from fossil fuels, Australia still has a long way to go to reduce our carbon footprint.

“CO₂ is good for crops” is like saying “steroids build muscle” and stopping there.

Yes, fertilisation effects exist. But field constraints, extreme heat, water stress and nutrient limits matter.

To all the women and girls in science: thank you for what you do, and for the futures you’re building. #STEM

Still, when human rights concerns are involved, even a small public stance matters.

Chart showing that the value of engineering work down on oil and gas mines in the past year is more than half the amount spent on public infrastructure

If economists want to talk about crowding out, they should have a very strong look at the gas industry

Building new mines that are not needed (80% of gas is exported), and are terrible for climate change, take workers away from build roads, rail.. and homes.

I’ve never understood why reducing fossil fuel use is treated as hard politics.

Even if you ignore climate change entirely, fossil fuels are clearly linked to poor health and premature death.

Reducing them is a direct public-health win. Much like tobacco control was

Why it’s time we finally stopped worshipping ‘the science’ Science isn’t a democracy. And as it’s practised by government officials has more in common with politics and religion than most of use realise.

Some valid criticism here of how evidence gets politicised: agreed. But this piece treats “science” as if it hasn’t evolved since the early 2000s. Open science, pre-registration, transparency, and replication studies exist because scientists took those critiques seriously
