Shout out to @marijkeanne.bsky.social for carving that amazing thermos linocut overnight for the book cover, after a student comment yesterday (“a thermos of soup is not a book”) that has become our class meme.
I’m also delighted that students insist on calling the class “BookLab Summer Camp”
What we did in BookLab today—visited @illinoisrbml.bsky.social to consider the many forms of the book, printed our commonplace book on the hand & jobbing presses, including printing our covers on the paper we made yesterday, & chatting with @transbookhistory.bsky.social about his artists books—phew!
And after a full semester as a practicum student, looks like I still struggle to spell Skeuomorph, oops! @skeuomorphpress.org

today I got to see @skeuomorphpress.org in person 😍😍😍 and meet many lovely printfolk. Can't wait for the first full day of #buildingbooklabs25 – thanks so much to Ryan, Marijke + Marguerite for all their work making this possible, + to the FabLab staff for letting me into their screenprinting shop!

Feeling grateful for getting to attend #BuildingBookLabs25. In an absolutely insane time for arts, humanities, and libraries alike my work at @skeuomorphpress.org has been a vital outlet. Getting to see the incredible work by Booklabs and artists across the country shows— we’re not going anywhere!

I heard the NEA is only considering proposals related to 1776 & the USA’s 250th birthday & I was feeling intensely patriotic, so I’m printing these really big posters inspired *directly* by the Founding Fathers
