BTW, if you would like to have Japanese rules for your game, feel free to ask me. I'd love to help introduce games to the Japanese market.
So I think it is fine for creators to use machine translation for a Gamefound campaign, for example, but they should ask a human translator to translate the actual content, such as rulebooks and card texts. And I hope translators receive a bit more respect for their work :)
As a part-time ENG-JPN translator, I think machine translation is OK at best, yet quite useful in many situations. It also helps fill the gap between native English speakers and others (but I'm telling you, the gap between ENG and JPN is far wider than the gap between ENG and FR or GER.
I think the board game community respects creators and is very cautious about AI. However, I wonder how you feel about machine translation, which is basically a form of AI. Translation is a creative and professional process, and AI is built on previous human work. Are they acceptable to you?

I'm overwhelmed by this reality.
Happy Pokรฉmon Day from Nature. I appreciate their content and positive influence on science. However, I'm afraid their use of the word "evolution" has hindered an appropriate understanding of the concept of Evolution, at least in Japan.
I know nothing about the Legend of the Five Rings world, but "Toshi Ranbo" sounds very odd to my Japanese ears.
And hereโs a teaser video!

Beauty or fairness is subjective. So the magic mirror probably had judged based on its own subjectivity, which would be related to the reflectivity or the smoothness of the surface.

Hi. When I'm talking about normal or not, I'm probably referring to the Gaussian distribution. Thanks.
Hay fever season has arrived. Hello!

Thank you for sharing, and congratulations on your accomplishment!
I know this! I read a similar story in a fairy tale. A king asked his three daughters how much they loved him, and the third daughter answered that she loved him as much as her books.
Yes, as far as I can remember.
We need some penguins in this depressing time. At least, I do.

Here is an article I wrote a few years ago about balance in board games (in Japanese).

For example, the first player advantage/disadvantage is often related to the number of options/degree of freedom in the decision space, rather than to VPs.
Very interesting. The word "balance" is often used quite arbitrarily in games, which makes it difficult to evaluate. In most cases, a balanced game means the game is equally enjoyable, rather than equally winnable. Win rate or average points are not the appropriate indices of game balance.
A few comments on the Japan election yesterday:
- It was more decisive than I expectedโand wanted.
- There is a significant trend toward nationalism, which is consistent with most of the world.
- The depreciation of JPY will continue, which will be hard on basic, esp. experimental science.

I watched "Music by John Williams" and was really impressed. It's a love letter to live music and live musicians, which I really appreciate. The film is full of great songs, and it's hard to believe that a single person could create them all.

Interesting. I think the difference between games and puzzles emerges from the interaction between players and the activity. By definition, math exams can be regarded as a game (a multi-player puzzle with scores and a time limit), but they aren't for most people.

Looks interesting. I will come back to this once I've watched the film.

I'm surprised this album was reissued in Japan last year. I should buy it.
Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a board game box with a side drawer before. That's very cool!

I feel the gap between my expectations and the reality of society and politics these days. This is likely not due to SNS, AI, or other technological or ideological changes in the current era. Rather, it is probably because my internal model of society and politics is fundamentally flawed.
