They did not get rich
They did not get rich
Both of my grandpas were very interested in Get Rich Quick schemes
Army radioman then electrician (and briefly restaurant owner); Navy enlisted then a whole bunch of random jobs I think - plumber for a hot second? - (and briefly a lunch counter owner)
Elliott watched this weekend and I think Iβve finally convinced him to read the book
Was just talking about that episode
This is also a route that generally runs every 10-15 minutes, which I feel like is also important context. *several* buses were either cancelled or insanely late
I get that buses and trains are going to be late or even cancelled. It sucks but I get it. But it seems like if @septaphilly.bsky.social can put AI readers on trolleys for parking tickets it could at least guesstimate that the bus at the depot is not actually leaving in 2 minutes
And itβs not the first time *this month* itβs happened
Ended up standing on the corner for like 40 minutes with my kids to go less than a mile. If I knew the bus was going to be late/never come I would have started walking right away
Curious if this is a Philly/SEPTA specific problem: if you commute from the start of a bus or train route, itβs impossible to know if a bus or train is going to be late. Itβs just a constant β2 minutes awayβ indicator
Thank you! I love it, itβs got amazing pockets, and a few drawbacks
Are you guys doing a marathon reading?!
Wearing a jumpsuit on all my Big Days at work β a true gamble
Someone is going broke on these teeth
Thanks for being here!
Trans Kansan's being stripped of their licenses due to having previously - legally - changed their gender marker is absolutely shocking.
A person who misses the letter - let's they moved and forgot to have their mail forwarded - could drive to work and be arrested for driving without a license.
The spine of a book called Germs, Seeds, Animals by an author named Crosby.
My dad's second-favorite band
Top right corner. Can't help but wonder if The Simpsons paid subtle tribute to Dan McQuade in tonight's set-in-Philadelphia 800th episode.

Thinking of how popular it was to sneer about how the Ice Bucket thing like 10 years ago didn't make any difference and then it turned out the money it raised led to the biggest breakthrough for ALS research in years
It seems like once every three or four years I was like βbtw Iβm having a hot dog party come throughβ
Iβve been deep diving into old texts and emails and stuff thinking about my pal and have discovered that I have hosted an absurd number of parties where the only food I served was hot dogs
Didnβt realize you also interned at the Weekly β Dan and I actually talked about your book and how he was really looking forward to reading it
Also remember this and have a laugh. I think it was Danβs favorite thing that ever happened.
Anyway my favorite Dan pieces were always the wildwood shirt roundups but also this classic, which i talked to him
*a lot* about www.phillymag.com/news/2013/09...
Dan was one of two of my first ever Work Friends* and then he became my Regular Life Friend and Iβm devastated but also so lucky to know him.
The only thing I miss about Twitter is that it was a very easy way to interact publicly with institutions and businesses when you had a complaint
Oh no
Like saying F A F S F A or fafsa? The first is wild the second is⦠makes sense
