whale cat figurine for a very dear friend of mine. this is the original model, which the prototype i posted earlier was a cast of. i may be selling or raffle more casts later to help my friend and her family.
basically trying not to view a progression of creation that implies that something that has been done with more practice has more value. i think the sensation of experimentation and learning has a lot of value.
i think the idea i have to make music 100 times before i can make music worth making is self-defeating. i think my first song can hold as much value as my 100th painting.
trying to view amateur art in a similar vein of outsider art, and give it respect as what it is and not just what it can become. i think maybe a lot of outsider art is amateur art without humility or a desire to transition to something "skilled"
it is difficult to try new mediums when you already have a medium or two that you believe yourself to be competent at. you have to choose to become an amateur again which means either swallowing your pride or deciding that being an amateur isn't something that should require humility to begin with.
