Went digging and dug this up: the two of us a minute after signing his adoption paperwork

He loved you back
Wanted one since I was a kid but nope, never had one until him
Bruceβs face while I made his Gotcha Day steak
Four years later, weβre celebrating the way he deserves. Heβs my best friend, my wifeβs loyal guardian and pillow, and a play buddy for his big sister, Saska. He doesnβt make my life easier; he makes it better. Happy Gotcha Day, buddy.
Took him home the next night. Opened the door to my apartment and sat down on the couch. I canβt stress enough how much I had no idea what I was doing. Still donβt. He jumped up on my lap, farted and fell asleep.
Took him back. Filled out an application and snapped this pic in case it was the last time I saw him. I rounded the corner walking home and three minutes later they called me and said I was approved, I could take him home tomorrow. They were rooting for me
I was crushed. I snuck him into my apartment to see if he liked it and if heβd do ok. He seemed excited and curious. I decided to put in an application just in case.
Almost every night after I met him I took him for a walk. Didnβt know how it worked. Iβd never had a dog before so I just kept walking him. One night the clerk told me theyβd tee Bruce up for me but they wanted to let me know he had a meeting with a pre approved adopter in a few days
I wasnβt able to properly celebrate Bruceβs Gotcha Day on the anniversary Wednesday so we decided to celebrate tonight. February 25, 2022 I went to the rescue to pick up Bruce heβd jumped up on my lap during a walk with a volunteer a week prior.
Adventure pups
50lbs of the most affectionate furry neurosis you ever did see
Gonna stay under the fishbreath weighted blanket tonight
I just tried to put a thumbs up emoji on an email from my wife only to realize thatβs not a thing you can do. But it is a refreshing snapshot of how much Ive managed to avoid email.
I used to be a mild pugilist on social media and it was fun after a fashion. But now my posts are all about my dogs, the food Iβm making, and embracing my inner suburbs dad. Being lame is great. Iβve never been happier.
Group of local teens knocked on our door and offered to shovel us out today. Paid them gladly, they did a great job and were super wholesome and nice. I love my neighborhood.
I tell my wife βhe looks like someone threw a pile of dog legs fresh out of the dryer on the couchβ
Saska: sleeps like a Jane Austen character yearning in her sleep
Bruce: move over
As snows go, this one hasnβt been so bad. Itβs notable for the higher volume of snow delivered but
β’ Temps are warmer and will get warmer soon so lasting power is less
β’ No ice this time. Last time we got about a 2β thick sheet of ice coming down after the snow, messing up roads and walkways
Huffing my gym hoodie for comfort fumes like Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet
We got a wee bit
