The figures haven't changed in the past few years
Great summary of the day by @peterlangdon.bsky.social It felt like it was one of those talks that resonated with a lot of people. Lots of break time discussion about recruitment, ethics, gatekeepers and funding. So much energy and desire for improvement gives me a kick up the bum to keep going!
Weβre back again this year showcasing excellent research involving people with intellectual disabilities and autistic people taking place across the Midlands! Thank you to our partners: NHS England, ADASS, NIHR RDN East and West Midlands, Reach-Out, University of Birmingham
Thank you! Angela Henderson and Debbie Cairns were co-applicants on our project so we learned a lot from the citizens jury. It was such a great piece of work you all did.

How should you respond to a regime that has disregard for health and wellbeing, ignores the central role of inequalities in poor health outcomes, and believes science and scholarship to be enemies of progress?

Gary Boulet and I are the keynotes today for the Midlands Learning Disability and Autism Research event. Our talk is on the contribution people with learning disabilities make to research; as participants, advisors & as research leaders.
Great write up at @thetransmitter.bsky.social on the seeming erasure of SABV in the new era of NIH. Gotta say The Transmitter is killing it the last few weeks, first to report on the Federal Register block and now this. Leading the charge! πͺ www.thetransmitter.org/policy/exclu...
Why is measles such a big deal? Here's why:
"Amanda Jones, a librarian in Louisiana, has received death threats since speaking out against book bans. She was labelled a paedophile and filmed by strangers in public. She fears going out alone. βI can name a librarian in every state this has happened to β and I fear itβs only going to get worseβ
Done! Keep βem coming!
More to add to the trial methodology starter pack @amymrussell.bsky.social (and lots to follow here @trialforge.bsky.social @streweek.bsky.social) in not already!
One of our supporters shared this with usβpeople are getting creative tonight!
Exactly
Currently low response rates from CTU Directors (n=5), Programmers/Data Managers (n=0), & QA Managers (n=3) working in clinical trials. We need to know what these groups think the challenges are for greener trials.

This is just so cruel. My wife works at a school attended by many kids with disabilities, and one of my daughters is neurodivergent. I am at a loss for words. This state just keeps disappointing me.
"Itβs particularly egregious as a womenβs health product to be deceiving about what it can and can't do and could prevent women from getting proper treatment."

@gemashwell.bsky.social this looks interesting.
Let deregulate children catching fire and botulism. It doesnβt sound like unnecessary red tape when you look at it that wayβ¦
On the 5 year anniversary of the shambles that half the country didn't want and now its hard to find anyone who still thinks it was a good idea I felt this was worth a repost #brexit
How can anyone in their right mind ignore this letter from Caroline Kennedy about her cousin, RFK Jr.?
I did not see this one coming
Really feeling for US colleagues and students and knowledge and society right now...
I think some people hear βgrantsβ and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.
βPausingβ grants means people donβt eat.
Trump Reinstated the Global Gag Rule. Hereβs Whatβs at Stake.
Of course we expected this, but itβs still not widely known about among non specialists. The damage done to womenβs health by the global gag rule canβt be understated. The GOP/US government have been doing this for decades
