"Dance (pt. 1)" (1980)
What it says on the tin, but something deliberately incomplete (like it says on the tin), truncated horns.

Fan of MC Pipokinha; currently thinking about how the Chad Mitchell Trio foreshadow both punk rock and adult contemporary music. The people united will never be defeated. https://koganbot.substack.com https://www.youtube.com/@koganbot

"Where The Boys Go" (1980)
A casual elbow to yr teeth.
Emotional Rescue (possibly their best LP post Beggars Banquet)(sorry about the hedge, good songs but no terror bomb like "Brown Sugar" and no shattered/tattered/Puerto Rican girls who're just dying to meet you)

"It Won't Take Long" (2005)
"It'll all be over by Christmas" - conflates lying about a breakup and lying about World War I; meanwhile, a return to smudge vocals.

Day 35
** 11 points **
Playboi Carti "Magnolia" (USA 2017)
It's a scary world, and the music is like water shifting under other water and we're trying to keep our feet.

Day 34
Orange Caramel "Lipstick" (Korea 2012)
Every town I go in there's a street, now, the name of the street... er, no, the *location* of the street, it's Cairo, that's right, Cairo, you know Cairo? in France?

deeply unsettled push and pull between rejection and rapprochement

Post your favorite cover version of "All The Things She Said"!
This mashup by AltΓ©go is already on my Singles List for 2026:

This is good, but... it's just a cover. I was hoping for some Allan Sherman-type action. (I'm sure I've sung "I'm Melvin Rose of Texas" at least 100 times more than I've ever sung "The Yellow Rose Of Texas.")
(Are so many new people since the Freaky Trigger days I'd hate for them to feel constrained by our past.)
Honestly, if someone wants to renominate T-ara's "Bo Peep Bo Peep," I'm fine with that, since I voted *against* it last time and I'd like a chance to atone. Also, wouldn't mind contemplating "Let's Make Love And Listen Death From Above" all over again.
Probably not whom he has in mind, but here's Sexyy Red:

Day 33
DNCE "Cake By The Ocean" (USA 2015)
See, if they eat the cake, it's been consumed, hence they no longer have it; whereas if they *don't* eat the cake, they have it but haven't conferred upon themselves the benefit of eating it. Not sure they get this

I like this and I had never heard of them, as far as I remember; singer is good at handling soul against a background of loud guitar strums.
Yes. You're right. I didn't word it well. Committee seems to exist to support *all* the Ivorian national teams, not just the national *football* team.
(National soccer team of the Ivory Coast is nicknamed Les ElΓ©phants, though the committee seems to exist to support all the national teams.)
Is not spelling "case" but "CNSE," probably for le ComitΓ© national de soutien aux ElΓ©phants.
fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comit%C...
Ah, Germany, the land that coined the term* "Italo Disco." (And you may have to carry the torch for it, if Italy doesn't get through the playoffs. Unless Japan decides to carry the torch.)
*Term is sometimes credited to Bernhard Mikulski of ZYX Music GmbH & Co. KG, though that's not certain.
Congratulations to gab (@magnets321.bsky.social), manager of Curaçao. As you'll see upthread, we've been faffing about in your playground.
"Originele Bollo," though, is "een kaseko/kabula zanger in de surinaams muziek wereld" (the YT page says "Belgium" under "more"). Has a lot of alcohol bottles in his videos.
I'm too ignorant to pick out what language they're singing.
There's a YouTube page for a band called The Rhythms and when I click on "More about this channel" it says "Netherlands," though that could be the channel, not the band. Confusingly, there seems to have been a '60s rock band from the Netherlands also called The Rhythms

Thank you!
I won't be able to nominate it for anything, unfortunately, if I don't learn more. But funanΓ‘ seems worth investigating in its own right.
*Is credited to "Qri" not T-ara but is on a T-ara alb so I'm counting it against my limit of three T-aras. For similar Qri beauty I recommend "Diamond" (2017) and "Suri Suri" (2021).

Day 32
Qri "Do We Do We" (Korea 2013)* [tho it's in Japanese] nonsingle
Least obtrusive member of T-ara became the voice on several easy-listening trifles w/ unobtrusive flecks of eerie beauty.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-4O...
I am eager to find out what you've gotten into.
Does anybody know anything about this track? What the language is, who the band are, where they're from? (Found it on a playlist otherwise devoted to a band from Curacao.) YT caption says "Creation_Crew-Djegge Baja da Mi" and nothing more. @lokpolokpo1.bsky.social
www.youtube.com/watch?v=RroU...
Wikipedia says "Dutch remains the official language, though Papiamentu, English, and Spanish are widely spoken." Might some Curacao bands choose Spanish to target the wider Caribbean? In any event, 2nd band I tried, Tipico Santa Rosa, do seem to be from Curacao. (And are good.)
Er, but I'm wrong! Checking Wikipedia, I see that La Perfecta are from Martinique! So, not so easy.
