Itβs a classic exploding helicopter and one of only two films ever made that feature a helicopter blown up by an American football.

those are certain choicesβ¦π
Beautiful.
Watched WAR MACHINE (2026) it's.... alright. And, as a plot device aficionado, I have added it to my list as an example of Chekhov's quarry.
Never forget.
Scandalous. The Great! Action film channel promo for the Airport βtrilogyβ erases Airport: The Concorde and Joe Patroniβs heroics from movie history.
On the new Exploding Helicopter podcast we review WHITE HOUSE DOWN (2013).
Director Roland Emmerich made a career out of blowing up helicopters in film but is this his worst ever effort at whirlybird conflagration? This and other important topics discussed.

Should that be Last Mag or Lust Mag? Either way, I like it!
We got one! EARTHFALL (2015) becomes the 9οΈβ£4οΈβ£5οΈβ£th film we've found with an exploding helicopter.

Thanks to our friend @explosiveaction.bsky.social for the tip-off! If you're thinking of watching it, apparently a strong coffee is advised...π
New DTVC Podcast, episode 252, "Deadliest Prey" with Todd Liebenow from @forgottenfilmz.bsky.social
We get stuck in on this 2013 sequel to the AIP classic. Tons of references to the original, but was the juice worth the squeeze?

Last Mag seems like such an obvious name for action name. Amazed no oneβs used it yet.
There are literally tens of people answering your rallying cry!
Action Film Dictionary: E is for Escape Scenario.
A character is held captive in some way. To avoid death or physical harm, the character attempts to escape by their own means or is sometimes assisted by others as illustrated by Dr. Richard Kimble's escape in The Fugitive (1993).

Watched DESTINATION GOBI (1953) checked out another Richard Widmark flick. This time he takes on the might Imperial Japan as he leads a team of weathermen [yes, really] out of Mongolia in this WW2 drama. It's not awful, but it isn't good either and the casting of the 'Mongolians' is 'of its time'.
From MIDNIGHT RUN (1988)
Indeed. The best bit about it is that Don returns to work immediately after blowing up the helicopter.
The Exploding Helicopter podcast returns! We're back to review WHITE HOUSE DOWN (2013). We're joined by @dtvconnoisseur.bsky.social to discuss the most irritating child actor ever, Chekhov's gun plot device fake-outs, and the all exploding helicopter action.

Iβd keep my socks on for Bev!
Damn! I really thought it was going to have one. βππ₯
I look forward to checking it out.
Watched DAY OF THE COBRA (1980) and Franco Nero is one of the last people I would have expected to see having sex with his socks on.
Tin Soldier is a strange film. Itβs terrible, but feels like it couldβve worked as mini series. Itβs far too overstuffed and for a bad film the solution - for once - would be to make it longer.
New DTVC Podcast, episode 251, "TC 2000" with @fredthewolf.bsky.social from Full Moon Reviews
We start the podcast discussing the upcoming year in movies, looking at what we think will do well, what won't, and why. After, we get stuck in on this Billy Blanks gem. open.spotify.com/episode/6iZS...
We're talking about Bradley Cooperβs divorced dad energy mid-life crisis comedy-drama IS THIS THING ON? on a brand new episode of CINEMA SMORGASBORD SELLS OUT!
I see what you did there...
You're not wrong. But perhaps it's plummeting testosterone levels or something, but in recent years I've come to enjoy the [frequently ridiculous] soap opera elements of this film.
When Time Ran Out.. on the disaster film. We review the film that ended the Seventies cycle of disaster films
