I’m thrilled @mikiesherrill.bsky.social has chosen a one-bridge plan that won’t add lanes of traffic at any point along the I-78 turnpike extension. This follows years of feedback from experts and advocates, and is a huge win for climate, air quality, traffic congestion and public health!
Happy Holi, Ward E! Wishing everyone a joyful celebration filled with color, love, and unity.
⚠️ NOTICE: Upcoming Overnight Utility Work
There will be overnight utility work starting Monday, March 8th to Saturday, March 14th from 7pm-6am on Jersey Ave, between 14th and 17th St. The work will require 2 lane closures (1 in each direction)
Please share with your neighbors and plan accordingly!
All joking aside, this is a HUGE win for New Jersey.
The bridge needs to be replaced; that fact was never in question. But now it will be replaced with a more affordable version that won’t increase traffic and pollution for nearby communities!

MAYOR SOLOMON, COUNCILMEMBER ZUPPA & COUNCILMEMBER EPHROS RELEASE STATEMENT REGARDING HRH’S PROPOSAL TO KEEP CHRIST HOSPITAL OPEN FOR TWO WEEKS JERSEY CITY, NJ (February 27, 2026) – Mayor James Solomon, Councilmember Tom Zuppa, and Councilmember Ephros today released the following statement regarding Hudson Regional Health’s offer to keep Christ Hospital open for two weeks. “While this is progress, it is still not acceptable for the residents of the Heights. HRH committed to providing long-term, high-quality health care in the Heights, and an additional two weeks fails to fulfill that promise. Together – as the Mayor and members of the City Council – we will continue to work closely with Governor Sherrill, the NJ Department of Health, and Jersey City’s Health and Human Services to find a responsible path towards a solution that guarantees access to emergency care for residents in the Heights, whether that care is provided by HRH or another provider.”
Today, Mayor Solomon and Councilmembers Zuppa and Ephros released the following statement regarding HRH's proposal to close Christ Hospital in 2 weeks:

Join our office, Councilman Gilmore, and JCFPL to dig out downtown — again!
We are looking for volunteers to help remove snow in high need locations and assist our vulnerable neighbors.
Donuts, hot coffee, and supplies will be provided!
Call the Resident Response Center at (201) 547-4900. They have extended hours 6am-11pm today and tomorrow.
❄️ Snow Storm Update:
🗑️ Garbage collection is suspended for Monday, February 23rd.
🚘 Street sweeping is suspended indefinitely.
Find the most up to date information at JCNJ.ORG/ADVISORY.
If standalone, recommend posting on Facebook/nextdoor/etc. Often teens will be shoveling to try to earn money. Finally, if you cannot find anyone we can put out an ask for volunteers to help.
Sorry about your flight! Ticketing will not start until 12 hours after the snow stops falling, and it is still falling currently. Do you own a condo or a standalone building? If condo, recommend coordinating with your neighbors/HOA.

UPDATES from OEM this afternoon:
-SeeClickFix is NOT being used this storm. Call the Resident Response Center at (201) 547-4900 instead. RRC will have extended hours of 6a-11p Mon and Tue.
-The city will no longer be towing cars on snow emergency routes, to focus all resources on clearing snow.
Attention JC: CitiBike has informed us that they are shutting down the system from 8pm on Sun Feb 22 to 6am on Tue Feb 24.
Plowing of side streets will take place but it will only cover the lane(s) of traffic, not the parking spots.
You can park in the lots listed at JCNJ.org/advisory regardless of whether you’re on an emergency route. However, last storm I heard from people who did that and regretted it, because they and their neighbors moved their cars and then the normal street parking spots on their block filled with snow.
SNOW STORM REMINDERS Residential Snow Shoveling: Clear a 48-inch wide path within 8 hours after snowfal! ends. Business Snow Shoveling: Clear a 48-inch path on sidewalks within 4 hours after snowfall ends. Corner property owners are required to shovel out to the plow line - not just to the curb. Do not shovel snow back into the street.
PARKING REMINDERS: This weekend's storm means snow plows will need clear streets. Help our DPW crews help you: Check if you're on a Snow Emergency Route. If you are, please use public lots. Cars on corners, in crosswalks, or on Snow Emergency Routes will be towed. Find emergency routes and parking lots at: JCNJ.ORG/ADVISORY
Important snowstorm reminders ❄️
If you see a property in violation of shoveling rules, you can report it on SeeClickFix. If you include the address, Code Compliance may be able to issue a summons as well.
Corner property owners are required to shovel out to the *plow line*, not just to the curb!
