Anything is allowed to protest DST
I'm preparing for a deposition (side gig). The attorneys who hired me asked if i used AI for my report. I said "No. I do all my analysis by hand, I don't use AI.
The sighs of relief from those attorneys was interesting and hilarious. I guess expert witnesses are AI-ing it a bit now.
Dont ask AI to give you a page number in a cite as well.
Gotta say I love the morning brew og newsletter.
i bet you used ai for that art
Not sure how deeply embedded you are with AI these days Matt, but this change feels a bit different. Also, we need to catch up so let me know when you are in DC for a spell.
Being 'fine' today and being 'fine' tomorrow are not the same. I'm seeing worrying signs of an emerging problem. We are not helping ourselves in the midst of a technological change event with wars, tariffs, and policy uncertainty.
Recommend median wages given k shaped economy right now. not sure thats been updated yet.
Yikes. Stagflation alarm
AI is better than I am in one key aspect:
Being confidently incorrect.
I really do get a gain out of using Claude for many tasks, but Claude doesn't really know what it doesn't know, and I need to be in the loop to get right answers and product.
It just helps me focus better.
Could that be why my neighborhood fawns over our Aldi. Obviously not British, but German, but quite cheap with interesting selections
faustian bargain in my view.
itll be with MS Copilot in all likelihood, which uses ChatGPT but makes itworse.
Yep, Richard's experience here is mine as well. When I am in my scope of expertise, I can inspect the code and output and see what was incorrect about the mostly correct code. Its very hard for me to trust AI code generated outside my scope of expertise for this very reason.
Javascript code for a noncentral t cdf produced by Claude. It is simply a call to the normal CDF, which is not correct (though will be a decent approximation with large N).
I've been testing Claude to see how well it can "vibe out" a stat. power app that I've already coded completely myself - so I know what I want. It mostly gets things right with animations (those are easily verifiable) but looking into the backend stats code is nightmare inducing (see pic).
There are very good intel youtube channels, such as Ryan McBeth, that early this week predicted action this weekend based on their past experience and public information. I'm skeptical of insider trading claims here given that credible folks were making youtube videos on monday.
I think I will try it again in the next update when you can play the same civ all the way through. I hope they fixed the blocky new world...that was... a procedural dud at launch
While we sit around to find out how bad exactly it all is, a bit of cheer: the best baguette of Paris competition was won by a Sri Lankan who appears to have started as a dish washer in restaurants and eventually trained as a Boulanger.

The key is that Sid Meier understood that a good game couldnβt just be a βsimulatorβ of the real world. It had to recreate something interesting from the real world in game form, which is not the same thing.
And Civ 7 was a massive downgrade.
When we go on our summer jaunt, a herd of goats and goat-lings always stops by every day. Some are even friendly and hang out with our daughter. Goats are cool.
Thanks for sharing
Today is going to be lots of ugly stuff on the feed so here is our beloved Aunt No-No cuddling a baby goat to make your day better.
I know it made mine better and my heart happy. She'd love it that it makes yours better.
If you read this carefully, Sam Altman seems to be saying Openai has been offered the deal Anthropic was asking for β and is now being designated a supply chain risk over.
This makes the DoD's already bizarre stance on this totally incomprehensible. What is Hegseth even trying to do here?
I replaced having a fee only financial advisor with Claude and ProjectionLab. Retirement planning with both these services is extremely useful to play out scenarios, and costs much less.
which place?
