A) I remind people that Florida Man is also a cop.

B) As soon as I read the victim's name, I knew he was Black. Didn't need to see the picture.

AI isn't all bad, but as currently used AND constructed, considering resources involved and lack of guardrails, it isn't good.

That's quite problematic given companies are shoving AI into everything, even where it is not needed.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

Not everything is a distraction. It is entirely possible for multiple bad things to exist simultaneously without them being related.

Republicans are using kids as a smokescreen for what Big Tech lobbyists want: a national surveillance program to harvest our data with zero protections for people and their privacy.

We must fight this dangerous expansion of surveillance technology.

A Florida bill would create a "counterterrorism unit" to β€œdetect and neutralize” people, groups, businesses, and others whose "actions, views or opinions are a threat or are inimical to the interests of this state and the United States of America.”

Already passed a State senate committee 7-1.

Also them: "Things happen, what are you gonna do?"

It's not just resurrecting the long dead species and their DNA.

Thinking of viruses and bacteria and microbes, along with possible/ probable mutations.

Also, what if they used the movie as a template? Wasn't a particular species recreated with amphibian DNA? I vaguely recall that...

The authority that Trump has asserted in taking America to war against Iran is, like many of his other power grabs, an expression of the very tyranny the Framers were seeking to prevent.

β€œKings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object,” a young congressman named Abraham Lincoln wrote in 1848. This was β€œunderstood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us.” This quote, incidentally, is immortalized on the House’s website, if any members of Congress are looking for it.

The design of the Constitution divided warmaking authority between Congress and the executive to prevent a president to take the country to war by themselves for any petty or self-serving reason. You know, like a king would. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

How do we get an entire political party classified as a "Domestic Terrorist organization" without it looking like a political act of retribution or retaliation?!

The people who wait until I'm already opening the door and maneuvering my daughter's wheelchair to get her in/out of places before offering to get the door can all go fuck right off.

I wish we had a usable and affordable train service, but I understand that if the people want it, we can't have it.

That's why I believe we also don't have universal healthcare.

I've been looking at Duckworth for a possible run for some time. I think it might be more likely that she gets tapped to run the VA, but I could see her as President. I like Ossoff, but can't get to President with him yet. I would fear for Warnock's life. I fear he'd get assassinated.
