there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

Castlevania and the Shovel Knight games (which I cheat here by including all of the main ones under Treasure Trove - but King of Cards or Specter of Torment would be my favorite) are like the DKC series in that I can just play them over again and again and love it every time.

There are a lot of games I love but I don't have a chance to talk about that much, so I like to do these trends when they pop up to remind people I'm not 100% only about googly eyed animal platformers lol.

I don't think that could possibly be true though. An adult male gorilla is like 300 pounds minimum, and he is bigger than DK :P

I also just realized the "In this corner..." part is prophetic, too

Yeah!! I used to speedrun it for a while. Not that I was really good at it lol, but it was still impressive to go from my first playthrough taking many hours to learning how to beat in under 15 min. Super formative game for me in regards to how I conceptualize the fun of challenge and learning

I can't remember if I met him or K. Rool first because it depends on if I was ever able to see the end of SMB2 (on All-Stars) before the end of DKC.... But as I did own All-Stars first, I think it was Wart! He had such an impact on me for a silly small screentime. Like Hyle, I just adore SMB2

I still would rather have him back in a game (...uh, thank you Link's Awakening and its remake??) but I'll take it
