Turned on the Eagles game just in time to see the interception fumble situation. I know I should turn it off and walk away but I love to suffer.

My 5 yo uses the word meticulous because he learned it from a very popular Disney song (Be Prepared) and asked what it meant.

You have a great collection! And it makes sense, from their end it’s probably easier to sell on Etsy than deal with the general public all summer πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I don’t understand this at all. When I was new to Boston and asked why the hell all the nurses on this unit are wearing the same bracelet, it turned into everyone swapping stories and memories about trips to the shop. There’s no magic in buying it from Etsy.

I’m visiting friends in Cleveland next month and technically I can take the Amtrak. From Boston, it will take 15 hrs and arrive at 3:45 am. So like it’s possible but that’s a hard sell even for me and I love train travel.

An extract of an article in the New York Times. These are the opening paragraphs. They read:

The children died one after the other. Twelve acutely malnourished infants living in one corner of Sudan's war-ravaged capital, Khartoum.
Abdo, an 18-month-old boy, had been rushed to a clinic by his mother as he was dying. His ribs protruded from his withered body. The next day, a doctor laid him out on a blanket with a teddy bear motif, his eyes closed.
Like the other 11 children, Abdo starved to death in the weeks after President Trump froze all U.S. foreign assistance, said local aid workers and a doctor. American-funded soup kitchens in Sudan, including the one near Abdo's house, had been the only lifelines for tens of thousands of people besieged by fighting.
Bombs were falling. Gunfire was everywhere. Then, as the American money dried up, hundreds of soup kitchens closed in a matter of days.
"It was catastrophic," said Duaa Tariq, an aid worker.
The stark consequences of Mr. Trump's slashing of U.S. aid are evident in few places as clearly as in Sudan, where a brutal civil war has set off a staggering humanitarian catastrophe and left 25 million people - more than half of the country's population - acutely hungry.

Never forget that the richest man in the world chose to take food from the mouths of the world’s poorest children.

What if I, as a parent, don’t WANT to be the primary decision maker in my children education because…I do not have a degree in education??? What if I prefer someone who knows what they are doing does that instead and I teach them stuff I know about when they’re home??? Like how society should work??

having kids in the next 5 years might be a tragic mistake

every smart bio founder/scientist i’ve talked to seems to think embryo editing for things like short sleeper, reduced cancer risk, etc is possible on a near term horizon

imagine having two kids a couple years apart, one is a super human and the other isn’t

β€œsorry jim, little timmy won’t get cancer, only needs 4 hours of sleep and you’re normal you were just born in the wrong order 🀷🏻 β€œ
