Today I've been looking at textiles at Slöjd & Formcenter in Luleå. Great fun! Am going to a workshop in sashiko in May and now I'm thinking about a project to collect materials for... 😀

We see the uniting Swedish king Gustav Vasa from 1523, and some "great men" who were instrumental in the exploitation of Lapland. The Sami are portrayed as bare boned, probably a reference to a decades long fight to get back bones collected in the 18th and 19th centuries by Swedish scientists.

Sami knives plunged deep into the law books of Norway, Sweden and Finland.

I had a day off today and passed the art gallery at the culture house. They were hanging the most politically charged exhibition I have seen in years. Like being back in the 70's.
