At yesterday's hearing Ranking Member @repmaxinewaters.bsky.social Treasury Sec. Bessent if he wrote a letter to investors warning that "tariffs are inflammatory."
He lied and said "NO"
Later he doubled down on the lie with Vice Ranking Member @casten.house.gov
The Trump Administration claims the Treasury has authority over Venezuelan assets.
I asked Treasury Secretary Bessent directly what grants him this authority.
He seemed to have no idea that he controlled these assets, let alone the authority behind them.
Secretary Bessent told me that it’s “very difficult to tell” whether dismantling the Minority Business Development Agency hurts Black small businesses.
