Having a contract is no guarantee of protection or dignity. It’s a piece of paper. Bosses walk all over them every single day, but also most contracts protect boss power. Union power by contrast is extra-legal and about control of the workplace at the point of production.
To be fair, this structural antisemitism is baked into the culture, and needs to be a bigger conversation. The way that billionaires, awful as they are, replace class as a target of political analysis is the most common way this shows up even all over the left.
Calling it a sacrifice launders the actions precipitating their death in undue nobility. They shouldn’t have died because the US engaged in an illegal war. It is a dishonor to them to obfuscate who is really responsible for their death.
