Some commissioners said that we need to expand storage so more flights can come in and out of the Portland airport. We disagree & believe in safety first. It is not fair to tell the people of Portland that their safety comes second and the interests of big fuel and big airlines come first. 𧡠2of 2

We are disappointed that many Portland Planning Commissioners suggested that we should expand fuel storage at the CEI Hub. Yes, you read that correctly. Why?. 𧡠1 of 2
Shame on Portland City Administrator Raymond Lee. At an employee town hall, he said, βWe are committed" to keeping the Macadam ICE facility open. Excellent reporting by kevinhfoster.bsky.social. substack.com/home/post/p-...
You've been waiting your whole life to learn a little about "renewable" naptha in the CEI Hub, right? All hazardous materials like "renewable" naptha should be regulated. Renewable fuels can explode, cause fires, and spill into the Willamette River. Yes to facts! No to greenwashing!

The drawdown should align with the Oregon Department of Energyβs OREGON ENERGY STRATEGYβs goal of a 70% reduction in liquid and gaseous fuels by 2050. We can do this becaue Portland should be a global leader in climate policy and vision. 𧡠4/4
Dear Planning Commissioners, The vast majority of public testimony has called for a drawdown this year of 20-30% (which BPSβ own data shows is totally feasible without affecting fuel supplies) and a phased monitored drawdown every 5 years thereafter in line with decreasing state demands. 𧡠3/4
The only way to increase CEI Hub safety is to begin a process of reducing all hazardous flammable materials on liquefiable soils because even increased design standards, connecting infrastructure, and containment are likely to fail, especially for tanks closest to the river. AKA DRAWDOWN NOW! 𧡠2/4

If you want to get into the weeds with us about increasing safety at the CEI Hub, then this is the thread for you. Some vocal Portland Planning Commissioners have been focused on geotechnical solutions while it is clear from experts that while these are necessary, they are not enough. 𧡠1/4
