Bizarre streaming glitch: the service suggests I play a new song by Southern soul greats ZZ Hill and Marvin Sease. Both long dead, I assume it’s a rediscovered duet. But I hit play…and it’s not them. It’s a generic bro country song called “We Just Stopped Trying”—and Shazam cannot ID it. Eerie.

Stumbled on my daughter’s kindergarten class pic (she’s 28) and I was very pleased that I could convey not only a majority of names but also some key details (“she was a biter”; her grandma was crossing guard; I went to a Bruce show in Providence with her Dad”). History matters!
