Despairing of Dawson defined my career (and found me a bestie for the ages, not for nothing). I owe the Beek a lot, and I hope he's found rest.

Ask me anytime! (seriously)
AFAIK, yes. They have coordinated their campaign roll-outs (Scanlon, Russell, and Tong) to not step on each other's news.
The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call βsymbolic compliance.β
Thatβs when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.
The political socialization literature suggests that the present moment is likely to have enormous impact on the political views of young people for decades to come.
I think a lot of us get hope wrong. Hope, I do not believe, is an emotion. In fact, hope makes space for lots of emotions to exist alongside it. You can DO hope scared, angry, sad etc...
Hope doesn't find us. We make hope through action and struggle. It's a practice of living and is re-made daily.
Nuremberg trials for ICE is the moderate position
I remember the first time I used the phrase "kit and caboodle" and my step-mom asked where I'd learned it π
I am @markblankenship.bsky.social when it comes to "I'm Breathless." I was 10 and *obsessed* - and know every word to "More." I didn't know it was Sondheim, so now I feel better?
Ugh, I will forever miss my Palm Pre
No matter our background, origin, or party, most of us believe violence has no place in our politics. Yet, the MAGA regime fans flames of violence, trying to turn government into a weapon against us. We must make this a country where no one fears for our lives or our loved ones.
Is angry librarian energy supposed to be an insult? How do I vote for an angry librarian
what this is, above all else, is the biggest green light weβve ever seen for Dem primary challenges
the Dem base is deeply, deeply angry at the party for not doing more to oppose Trump and the door is wide open for anyone who is serious about doing more on that front
It's become clear that this administration is just a protracted war on anybody who's read a book without pictures in it. It's a miracle we're all still getting up and going to work every morning. The psychological drain is the point, and I'm increasingly grateful to the people who are still decent.
this is all I do: systematize and operationalize the revolution.
we gone be organized!
Mine are in my passenger seat, but point taken and shots fired.
People often complain that Democrats are βbringing knives to a gun fight.β
But thatβs not quite it, theyβre bringing facts to a storytelling fight. And getting totally outspun.
My favorite channel
Democratic consultants: why donβt people vote and volunteer for us
Also democratic consultants:
Brad Lander working himself into the national conversation just by being a guy who says true things and not being a racist and doesnβt hate being a Democrat should be a lesson to folks but it wonβt be
CT, we too could have nice things...
CC: Mod Dems
There's a lesson there for a lot of people... I have so much respect for Lander.
I guarantee you, there is a non-sexually assaulting progressive Millennial or Gen Z person with a smattering of charisma in every district where there is an inert, fat cat establishment mayor or representative. Take every seat.
In 2021, progressives in NYC failed to come together and the result was four years of a disastrous, corrupt Adams administration. In 2025, Lander and Mamdani formed a united front, and the result is that they beat Andrew Cuomo. Give this man his flowers, he put the city above his ego.
Lander deserves a ton of respect for his willingness to subordinate his desires to blow up a genuinely evil man's campaign.
Let's gooooooo. They are not unbeatable. They're only unchallenged.
When the only people applauding you are the stateβs Republican leadersβ¦ maybe you donβt represent the people who elected you.
To say nothing of the shockwaves that vetoing HB 5002 will send through state politics in CT, it also means Lamont is hostile to one of the best ways for Democrats to build long term power federally: adding population to Blue states. CTβs housing crisis is already costing it a full seat in Congress.
I didn't think my distaste for the governor could increase today, but here we are. Ew.
