When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.
βSuperman is too woke!β
Literally the first page of the first ever appearance of Superman:
From NYC to LA, we are in solidarity with our immigrant brothers and sisters.
People deserve to be safe in their homes, workplaces, schools and neighborhoods.
We will not allow this administrationβor anyoneβto strip away the dignity and humanity that every person deserves.
Take a minute from your day and read this chilling story about how quickly we've gotten to where we are.
This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!
Regardless of anything else about the Wisconsin race, it's just a relief to learn that money can't always buy elections
The AHA has released a statement in support of the Smithsonian Institution, the target of the recent EO, βRestoring Truth and Sanity to American History.β This order βegregiously misrepresents the work of the Smithsonian Institutionβ and βcompletely misconstrues the nature of historical work.β ποΈ
Ozturk was arrested by six masked officers β like the Gestapo.
Her only offense appears to be writing an op-ed in her school newspaper.
While I strongly disagree with the views expressed in her op-ed, they are not a valid basis for deportation.
This is flat out un-American.
Thank you!
Thank you E Train for your thoughtful review of our book. Keep up the good work!
Hmm, I wonder if they'll also investigate those same colleges for giving admission preference to children of alumni. Because admissions should all be based on merit, right?
Well said, Marlena!
one thing i keep thinking about is how there is simply no way to design a constitutional system that can resist authoritarian incursion if participants in that system do not actually care that much
Congrats, Drew!
The Columbia deportation case is bad enough on its own β but the precedent is worse. People can be deported without breaking a law because of a vague reference to foreign policy.

I have worked with many untenured staff scientists & PIs at NIH. They are incredible colleagues who chose science in public service over more lucrative careers. Devaluing their commitment & professionalism is among the most cruel aspects of the DOGE purge

RIP Gene Hackman - One of the most influential screen actors ever. There was nothing he couldnβt do. His work was searingly truthful and often brutally honest -he never let you off the hook . Not afraid of ambiguity- a lost quality these days .
Lucky & grateful to have share screen with him.
On November 22, 1963, Hill risked his life to to save the First Lady'sβand tried in vain to save the President's.
Later, he spoke candidly about the PTSD and depression he suffered in the aftermath. He went on to serve other presidents, but his friendship with Jackie Kennedy endured. RIP.

Despite their different backgroundsβhe grew up poor in a rural town, she grew up with great privilegeβHill and Jackie formed an unlikely friendship. He was by her side through the great events of the era. (2/3)
I was so sad to learn about Clint Hillβs passing earlier this week. His story featured prominently in my book with @bradmeltzer.com, #TheJFKConspiracy.
In 1960, Hill was a young Secret Service given the job of a lifetime: handling security for the incoming First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy. (1/3)
After playing a fictional member of the Resistance a long time ago, I never could have imagined it ever happening in real life, but here we are.
