This stood out to the strategy enthusiast in me. Being strategic is as much about saying no as it is saying yes.
โ a summary of the latest allocations news
โ a round up of recently published research relating to the world of housing strategy
Look out for podcasts and events on these topics and more in the coming months.
The HQN Strategy Network newsletter landed in inboxes last week, it includes:
โ the latest news from the PRS, including the Renters Reform Bill
โ a Government consultations tracker, current and closed, and their outcome
- will the national housing strategy see the return of local housing strategies?
- what made the final cut of the Renters Reform Bill and what challenges and opportunities might it offer?
What are other housing strategy enthusiasts thinking about?
My list of things to think about after mat leave is getting longer this week after catching up with colleagues across Nottinghamshire and at HQN:
- what are the implications of local government reform for allocations and homelessness?
It calls for female prisoners to be treated differently to men, and we need the same mindset for female rough sleepers.
Solace WA and SHP have been leading the charge on this with their Women's Rough Sleeping Census. Keep an eye out for the 2024 findings and take part in 2025.
"Four out of five female prisoners have a history of significant head injury, with sustained domestic abuse being the most likely cause".
This article caught my eye, and this sentence in particular really stood out.
Topics on my mind are:
โ Women's homelessness
โ Renters reform
โ Supported housing regulation
โ Refugee resettlement
โ Devolution and reorganisation
Topics on my mind that I wish werent: the Procurement Act 2023
With 2 months to go until the end of Mat Leave 2.0, now seems a good time to get back in the social media game. I've been lurking and liking but will try do more sharing of things that catch my strategic housing eyes.
