White text on purple background that reads: βIf disabled people didnβt βget political,β we would not be able to attend school with our peers. If disabled people didnβt βget political,β we would still be regularly locked away in institutions. If disabled people didnβt βget political,β we could be discriminated against in the workplace without any repercussions. Disabled people do not have the privilege of not getting involved because, otherwise, we would be forgotten.β
Please do not assume a person with a disabled person is their caregiver.
This moment says everything about why Zohran Mamdani won.
A journalist in a wheelchair asked about accessibility and Mamdani didnβt talk down to him, didnβt deflect, didnβt politicize it. He listened.
Heβs the kind of leader who respects everyone, every faith, every class, every flag.
Something I always end up saying when I listen to #NPR every Sunday: "I didn't know that!"
Like the fool he is, Trump cut funding for public radio. Please donate to your local public radio stations. It's super important.

Has an app for iOS, MacOS, and found several (unofficial) Linux packages on the AUR, Flathub, and Snapcraft. Hopefully I like the free version...

Bluesky has a setting that will remind you to add alt text before posting any images.
Go to "Settings," then "Accessibility." Select the checkbox for "Require alt text before posting."
Strangely, this is the product of eight months of rooting around and only really half the story of what's going on. But for @theverge.com, I dug into the current accessibility slowdown, specifically how industry collapse is impacting progress. Big thanks to @andrewrweb.bsky.social for taking it in.
This is the same cotton that's used for clothing? And things we put in our bodies like q-tips and tampons? Oh God.
This is a badass bathroom.

#Spring has been here in #DFW for a minute.
This made me literally LOL. Salmon are chillin' out! #EcoSky

Diagram of a Braille cell with 1, 4, 5 representing the letter 'd'. Next to the diagram is the letter 'd'.
In my #braille and #blind journey, I'm struggling with the mnemonic of what each letter looks like. My Braille lesson says the letter 'd' in Braille resembles a written uppercase 'D'. WTF! Personally? I think it's a backwards d*ck. Sad, that's easier for me to remember. #disability
Around for 90 years in my home state? For those experiencing #disability? Had no idea.

Working on accessibility is even more important now than ever. Keep pushing accessibility forward, no matter the barriers. Every effort matters, no matter how small.
Have been lying low, recent checkup at my retinal specialist involved a modest increase in vision. This has been challenging some of my assumptions of vision loss and myopic retinopathy. Still need to continue my Braille studies, still blind in one eye, still less than 50 degree FOV in my good eye.
Many non-disabled individuals do not realize just how much they would also benefit from better accessibility.
Gorgeous late fall foliage with bright yellow, orange, and near red colors. Foreground is of a branch dangling with a half-dozen leaves. Out of focus area is blurry with few details, but a spectrum of fall colors stand out.
Living with #disability and vision loss, I distance myself from certain sighted activities. I hate being challenged by what I once did so easily or investing time in a hobby that will be a non-starter someday. Even still I have to cherish what I can do today and not let the future weigh me down.
Book cover, The Design of Everyday Things, by Don Norman. Shows a red shiny tea kettle with the pout incorrectly places on the same side as the handle. Steam emerges from the spout. A bright yellow background.
The original title was "The Psychology of Everyday Things." But bookstores often shelved it in the wrong section, sometimes under self-help, so it was renamed.
Even a book on design may miss considering and testing placement, context, and interpretation.

I was looking at preamp/DI so I re-analyzed my signal chain. Had tuner right before the amp which is just a newbie mistake. Current plan is tuner then preamp then compressor then chorus then amp. Granted I never tuned with the other pedals on, but it means it wonβt matter if the other pedals are on.
"This is a self-induced problem for colleges. Itβs widespread throughout the entire academic system.
We can see it with physical accessibility at colleges too. Accessibility has been treated as a burden far more than itβs been treated as a priority."
Really excellent analysis:

Leave it to #AI to tell me I had the pedal order in my bass signal chain all wrong. Loathe the hype but would rather a robot point out my mistakes than a warm-blooded mammal.
