An amazing view this morning across to the #Dolomites from #TopStar #Obergurgl #Austria.
Very poignant to see these buildings in #Obergurgl, a busy, buzzy ski resort right on the Italian border with #Austria. They were built by the Nazis in 1938 as customs stations. Itβs hard to think what life was like in this lovely village during the war.
Anyone asking whether itβs in someoneβs βwheelhouseβ?
Just finished @SayeedaWarsi brilliant, readable book. As she says, βBritain can and should be a comfortably multi-religious and tolerant societyβ. I never thought when I marched against the NF in the β70s that weβd be so hostile 50 years later. #timeforchange.
Quite. I still canβt see any sensible rationale for the sale.
Roy Jenkins had it right. A decent lunch, with a bottle of good Burgundy leads to good decision making.
A recommendation that people follow @drbrookes.bsky.social. He campaigns on hate crime. Heβs a great advocate for people with learning disabilities and a thoroughly nice person.
Iβve been looking but I canβt find the rationale for the #ScottTrust sale of the Observer to Tortoise. Can @theguardian.com point me in the direction of reasoning? I support the Guardian financial atm and therefore have an interest.

Agreed that Morgon is pretty special. Iβm struck that itβs so much richer than other Beaujolais wines. FYI- I once had Coq au Morgon in a restaurant in the village. The sauce was almost black and the taste phenomenal.
Thatβs great. Very atmospheric!
Burmese #cats are particularly fussy. Mischa doesnβt like any old espresso, the settings have to be exactly right for his taste.
I was wrong, there is one βThe Shadow Behind Beechingβ. By Martin Upham and David Brandon. Publ 2022. Iβve sent for a copy.
That might actually help with combatting coastal erosion.
Not that Iβm aware of. He deserves one though. Thereβs a useful chapter in this book. www.amazon.co.uk/Dogs-Lampost...
Yesterday we lost our kale to frost. Today this happened. #climatechange is very scary.
We had a tour of #Colchesterβs iconic, but crumbling water tower. A wonderful building and a piece of social history. βJumboβ supplied water for Colchester for 100 years from the 1880s. π€for the NHLF bid to restore it for community use.
In November 2022 I spoke at Buckingham Palace with Jonathan Dimbleby and Jon Snow. We celebrated the work of my dad, Director of the Uganda Resettlement Board, and commemorated the 50th anniversary of the arrival of 27,000 expellees from Uganda. Many have made a fantastic contribution to the U.K.
No Mischa, I donβt believe that youβre now vegetarian and want to help with the cooking. #catsofBluesky.
Though on the plus side the Mail have moved onto βwokeβ sandwich fillings generally with not a mention of the National Trust.
And me. Iβve dropped from 1700 to 1600 and locked my account. Itβs the first time Iβve been asked about verification.
A fallen and twisted tree seen in Hastings. Iβve never seen the like!
Time to cut down the asparagus fronds on the #allotment, but they do look rather glorious. #autumn
Thank you. Iβll make a note not to follow them.
Itβs hard cooking with a Burmese #cat in the house. They keep checking up on whether the chicken in the oven is done to their satisfaction.
When youβve cleared the #allotment nasturtiums into the compost bin but they wonβt give up. Joys of #autumn.
Reflecting back from a dark November afternoon to a wonderful week on #isleofMull in June. Itβs a wonderful place!
