On behalf of myself, the Catbinet and all Catnadians, I'd like to wish a happy Restoration of Independence Day to the people of Lithuania including our good furriend Rango, Official Cat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Our sources indicate the OCS wire likely snapped due to electrical arcing while a train (LRV 1166) was stationary. Ice created a gap between the pantograph and the wire, disrupting constant contact. The resulting arcing burned through the contact wire, leading to the break. β‘οΈπ
What is the updated planned end of construction for the new Blair Northside elevator?
I'll be curious if they determine wire was microscopically damaged by previous scrapping. It takes time to learn exactly how to attach scrappers.
My personal theory is the section east of the tunnel was built first when the team was getting experience. West of the tunnel was done later by a more practiced crew.
That was the break much nearer bridge on other side of Lees.
Council approves settlement related to 2016 Rideau St. sinkhole
But it is in Ottawa Valley. It isn't the Carp Fair.
We were told previously that scrappers were not required on every pantograph but on enough to clear the wire.
Freezing rain creates a layer of ice on the overhead catenary system (power lines). As the trainβs pantograph (the apparatus on the roof) moves along the wire, this ice prevents consistent contact, causing the electricity to "jump" the gap, creating visible sparks or flashes.
No, that's not a fair comment, David Hill doesn't understand the cashflow.
The staff report says the subterranean parking facility at 70 Clarence has a "projected long-term net cashflow of -$68.9 million" and "capital and lifestyle costs exceed its revenue potential". That's not cashflow positive.
I really think that Trump thinks that he will just. decide the war is over when heβs bored of it next week, and then everything will snap back to how it was re: oil, defence, global relations etc, just with a new Ayatollah. I really think he thinks thatβs how it will work
I suppose going to the Ottawa Valley Farm show is one way to meet a few rural City of Ottawa voters. #theOtherOne
science is insane sometimes
Getting the weather report for Nunavut (-51 with windchill) always puts Ottawa weather in a better perspective.
Bsky staff have continually managed to make these bad decisions/actions and it's honestly impressive how much they are squandering a good opportunity.
Politicians move on but war lasts for decades.

Remember when trump pretended to be injured? There were already pictures circulating without even a scab.
Ottawa library branches closed Wednesday morning due to the weather forecast
It's good to see so many Ottawa organizations and businesses proactively shutting down for tomorrow morning with potentially severe freezing rain in the forecast. π
Is this a sign of the times? Have we already passed "peak parking?" Vancouver's airport decides to leave massive garage unfinished because there's no demand for it. I bet they are anticipating autonomous cars in coming decades that don't need to park.
What does this mean for Vancouver? . . . (1/3)
