Brings to mind Obama’s famous slogan, “No I Can’t (Because I’m Black)”

And the event which precipitates that is him tearfully watching a young woman suffocate during an overdose. He stops himself from intervening, and then *cries*. That’s not tough guy shit. What?
Despite all this, the show is at pains to show Walt as largely a shitty guy. Yes, he’s breaking free of societal restraints, but he’s also hurting those around him. There’s an entire episode where the ripple effects of his actions cause a deadly commercial plane crash. Not subtle.
Could it be that predatory capitalism has adopted the moral logic of the drug dealer, and to “succeed” you need a similar moral outlook? Do we enjoy seeing characters outwit the police because the police are an abomination against nature and human camaraderie?
Why do people get a cathartic, vicarious thrill from characters who defy bourgeois morality? Could it be that the social contract in America is irredeemably broken, to the point where even the middle-class standard-bearers for indoctrination can’t afford cancer treatment?
Which brings me to my hot take: I have come around to thinking “Little Rabbit Foo Foo” was a failure.
Foo Foo is supposed to be a monster but the melody makes him read as cool enough that misguided people see him as admirable.
An amoral song that ages phenomenally poorly.
(Jim Henson here is America, of course)
Well, probably with "in the region" meaning "existing as a country in that region," which is one of the possible meanings re: Iran in the government's statement. But yeah, it's a bit like saying "Kermit is the primary agitator among the Muppets" and meanwhile no one's looking at Jim Henson
Given that the two Dems everyone is perpetually frustrated with are literally their House and Senate leaders, I don’t think the emphasis is misplaced enough to qualify as a lie, per se. Why don’t the good Dems make some of the good ones the leaders so they look good and not bad?
The USS Gerald Ford becoming the famous site of a class uprising would be like, top-tier hilarious
Sorry, this was me with the monkey’s paw
“And I said, sounds like you’re feeding soulless debate chuds to school shooters and then his daughter started crying.”
I mean, except a couple of times
Oh no, not he, he never lost control
(I can MSNBC-lib-out a little. As a treat.)
Unrealistic, he’s taking off his pants to shit
Too many people talking about Will Stancil, not enough talking about *Should* Stancil, imho
I think Mr Tompkins’s scenario presupposes that they will be quite turned on
He’s just asking questions!
How do you think those southern cops used those giant fire hoses to spray down those civil rights marchers and their children? They didn’t just figure that out on their own
Yes, and
Greg Bovino won’t see your posts about him. He’ll try to, but his phone will flop forward onto him, pinning him to the ground. And he’ll stay there until he’s rescued by a family of magpies who carry him off to their nest and put him with their hatchlings & feed him regurgitated worms every morning.

brass solidarity band performing “stand by me” in the streets of whittier next to alex pretti’s memorial. the crowd started chanting “the people united will never be defeated” so they incorporated it into the song. i love minneapolis
Lol even funnier considering he did actually win by vote totals, Bush v. Gore notwithstanding
ICE on ice needed the Blue Monday treatment
