Another weird one! We have a lot of the same albums.
Another weird one! We have a lot of the same albums.
I think thatβs an acceptable interpretation, especially since only one woman actually sings both partsβ¦whoβs to say what her intentions were.
This is a weird one
My favorite Toshiko album!!! I just checked and according to the back cover, yes, that song was recorded on March 4. The title track (not record OTD) is the other big standout on the album.
The album cover of Windows Opened by Herbie Mann (1968)
Acquired over the weekend. Sounds good! I got it more for the band than Mann himself, who is extremely erratic for me. Sonny Sharrock, Roy Ayers, Miroslav VitouΕ‘β¦playing Donovan and Tim Hardin?? It works somehow. #jazzsky
Yes, thatβs the album. No personnel is listed in the liner, which may account for there being no info online, but Nancy introduces the rhythm section by name (Buster, Mickey, Jimmy Jones, and Donn Trenner). I like the album a lotβ¦a bit looser than her studio albums of the period.
Mickey Roker never disappoints! This rhythm section reminds me of a live album (also from 1969) where Nancy Wilson introduces Buster Williams and Mickey Roker as Charles and Granville (their real first names, respectively)
Wow I donβt think Iβve ever heard these particular guys play in this kind of mold (Don Pullen on organ??) but it makes sense. Thanks.
Shiny Shelder!
Do you have to keep the food and beer down during that 24-hour period or are you allowed to barf as many times as you want/need to?
Album cover for MJQβs Odds Against Tomorrow
Tonightβs listening. Recently acquired for a decent price. A poor recording of good music. Piano/bass/drums are hard to hear while Milt Jacksonβs vibes sound like they are piercing my brain. Oh well. #jazzsky
I hate how β in the advertising worldβ if things are creamy, they are also automatically dreamy
Wow, whatβs included in that setβ¦like, Music Box Dancer, orβ¦???
Zuck canβt carve a line like you though
oh shit thatβs the iced tea they served in school!
Condolences from our family to yours
Just got a rejection letter for a job I applied to in March. Thanks for closing the loop, guys. The 11 months of silence on your end may have appeared as writing on the wall for the doomers, but the optimist in me remained hopeful. Now I can finally exhale.
You can argue about all the pro sports people that went to my high school but the correct answer to this question is Paul Winter. He recorded a duet with a whale! The jocks arenβt going to top that.
I feel like the taste of βgoodβ cough syrup and apple juice would still only be a lateral move.
A text between me and my mom: Hey Chuck Negronβs testicles didnβt explode, his penis exploded. Sorry to mislead you

Compositionally, this song is an oddball for its time. There is a prologue before the βproperβ song starts at 1:14. Thatβs a trope of pre-war standardsβ¦not so much pop songs from 1980.
Margaret Meehan from SCTVβs βHigh-Qβ sketch
This has always been my favorite Catherine OβHara character.
He hits a note in Lament (from Miles Ahead) that makes me emotional. Like holding back tears from out of nowhere. The whole performance is great but it always struck me as some kind of magic that someone can play a NOTE a certain way that can evoke that strong a feeling.
The juncos have been going bananas over the seed I put out this morning. Occasionally a big olβ cardinal will pop in and bust things up.
And a bespectacled Roy Haynes in the background
This is what it would look like if Kirby swallowed David Foster
Athem?
A George Cables album that is NOT entitled βI hear hoesβ
The placement of the play button β and my bad eyes β made me do a double take on the name of the album. Nice song thoughβ¦sounds like a distant spiritual cousin of Daahoud in spots.
White-throated sparrow has the best call. I pause to listen every time I hear it.
A detail of an Archie comic panel in which Betty says βDepression pays off!β
Iβve been perusing old Archie comics as a way to zone out and Iβm learning life lessons along the way.
