There's something deeply obscene and broken about the fact that Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are bombing elementary schools in an illegal war of aggression, and there's still a sense among the opposition that it has to be explained in terms of gas prices in order to get American voters to care.

I feel like playing fewer than 1,000 regular season games would help. Baseball is fun when there’s something on the line & regular season games almost universally lack stakes.

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for

to me it rocks that this company that has never come within light-years of making money and has a bad product with zero practical use cases is the pivot point of the global economy because a bunch of embarrassing Burning Man dorks just decided it should be

Sure, there was a lot of great music written and performed in that era, but at what point do the songwriters of the 60s stop being the be-all-end-all of music? Other than maybe Springsteen, does anyone from a later era get that kind of credit? We are beholden to the tastes of boomers, as usual

My decision last year to buy an old, shitty EV is looking better all the time. I pay the strata $25/month to plug in.

Sorry I know the world is in a terrible fix but I've been laughing at this for ten minutes now

I believe that expecting him to "think, and think hard" is asking too much of him, personally. I expect that if you asked him whether the US should be able to effect regime change in any country on a whim, he'd say it was fine because he assumes he'd be the beneficiary of it

People say BlueSky is an echo chamber but we have road cyclists, gravel cyclists, mountain bikers, single speeders, fixie riders, cargo bike riders, e-bike riders, hybrid riders, recumbent riders, bikepackers, randonneurs, and I'm sure we even have a few unicyclists among us

Just goes to show you that the US has that special sauce (derogatory). American exceptionalism doesn't mean what they think it means

I think I've already posted some comment on this more than once, but it is just remarkable to me that Canada and Mexico -- the nearest neighbours of the US -- are so far down on this list, as are so are many other Commonwealth countries, all of which are arguably most like the US in many ways.

Americans: we live in a fallen stateβ€”embroiled by sin, cheating, lying, and evil. You cannot trust anyone, not even those who claim to know you best

Canadians: I love my neighbors and my friends!

The ship that the US torpedoed in international waters, whose crew was left to drown (already a war crime) was unarmed & participating in multinational exercises, & the US knew it would be there because they had been invited to the exercises before they attacked.

The enemies of peace & humanity.

Look, we get it: boomers in Kits do not like it when new housing is built. We don't need to keep asking them about it.

05.03.2026 17:14 πŸ‘ 6 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

At this point, we must've heard every single Kits boomer's opinion on housing density, right? So, can we move on?

These multi-ton vanity projects chew up our infrastructure, ignore public safety, and put everyone else at risk just to satisfy a fragile ego.

This isn't a work truck, it's a security blanket.

This is a profound continental divide. Canadians overwhelmingly view other Canadians, even those unlike them, as being good people. Americans, more than any other country, view their neighbours and fellow citizens as bad people. Anti-Americanism flourishes in the United States

Every time I see people skateboarding, I think two things:
1. I suck at skateboarding.
2. I wish I was good at skateboarding.

Delivery driver for a dry cleaner on my mom's side.

Logger/lumberjack on my dad's side. Until he cut off his right thumb (probably chopping wood drunk), after which he was mostly a professional alcoholic.

Iran-Contra happened 40 years ago! It *literally* involved the US selling weapons to... Iran.

So, the argument is we were funding the armed forces of a country we were at war with?

I could see (but not excuse) an old boomer creep saying something like that off the cuff, but what an incredible lack of judgment to put it in writing!!
