To change all of this, I went into the settings and changed my gender to female.
My feed has gotten rid of almost all of the aforementioned nonsense and is so much more pleasant.

Pleasant probably isn't the right word, but less fear mongering and less hate.

I have a screen protector on mine and have had no issues with that being scratched by the dock. As for the click, it sorta does. It's not like a solid mechanical click, but you know when it's in there.
