Fascinated by everything to do with the natural world, though insects are my main focus. Paint a little. Deep in rural South Norfolk, UK https://www.youtube.com/@philipwilkins https://www.peregrineproductions.co.uk

A large bird of prey, a Red Kite, feeding on a carcass in a field
In our meadow today
Wow
Amazing stuff
Beautiful and educational simultaneously
It is an interesting game, we have learned not to worry too much about winning π
Beautiful artwork
Fly-a-way is a good one on bird migration, but may be hard to get hold of
Been doing a lot of little sketches to illustrate my journal

Just seen this petition
I am not sure how the hunt is justified in the light of the avian flu effects on seabirds

That's fascinating
I have seen many insects impaled on spiky plants - usually after bad weather and I have always assumed it was accidental
Impaled on grass seems strange
My suspicion would be a bird storing food
Thank you very much. Unfortunately it flew off just after this photo was taken. So, I will probably never know for certain

Yesterday's WCBS near Bungay, Suffolk was fairly low on numbers, but it was nice that the second most numerous species (after Meadow Brown) was Small Tortoiseshell. Also nice to find 2 Small Heaths in the field where there is usually a single one π #butterflies #wcbs
Always nice to see a new species
Smaller brightly coloured caterpillars of the Small Eggar on hawthorn
Multiple bright Small Eggar caterpillars on their web
Numerous Small Eggar caterpillars on their web
