When profit kills: How private equity is eroding health care
Peer-reviewed studies link private equity takeovers to more deaths and medical complications in nearly every corner of healthcare.
Curse of Private Equity
US evidence shows:
When private equity incentives collide with clinical care, patients—especially those who are sicker, poorer, or harder to treat—are more likely to be killed or harmed.
Yet UK handing more of the NHS to PE, enabling it to make profits.

Except, to be somewhat pendantic, we didn't call them "tablets", but "tabs" and they usually weren't pills but bits of paper. 😀

I still have two kidneys and will gladly give up one if that's any help here, being that it's such a critical situation.

Thanks. I've signed up for the newsletter and have ordered Fundamentally Yours. I heard the author speak about writing the book on R4 a few weeks/months ago. It sounded interesting.

black bean noodles topped with bok choi and mushroom stir fry with gluten puffs
tofu filled with shitake and carrot, topped with pickled radish green
Made stuffed tofu pockets topped with pickled radish to go with a bok choy and gluten puffs stir fry this evening. They were interesting and tasty and complemented the stir fry.

Ahh, I would have attended even though I haven't read the book. But the details for this meeting weren't on Facebook or BlueSky, so I assumed it wasn't going ahead. I'll sign up for your newsletter. What's the book for next month?

The "progressives" in Your Party and elsewhere should take note of this scathing analysis:
"You’ll grudgingly consider you could have made your point better, but at heart the assumption remains that the stupid normies misunderstood you, not that they understood you perfectly well."

These surgeons are ghouls. This is the "life saving!" path the paused puberty "trial" will put children on. None of it is ethical. None of these children can ever give informed consent to any of it. And it's completely unnecessary.

I was unable to attend this (having enjoyed(!) the book). Do you have a book and link to register for this month's bookclub please?

Even if they did all that, it would still not be enough to salvage them. Let them go down in flames.

This is mad & ethically incomprehensible. On what metrics did they decide who should pay more or less for the same thing?
'Dynamic pricing' has always been a thing, even on food. We expect a local 24hr shop to cost more than a supermarket we travel to. But not on same item, same time, same place.

I very much doubt it. Even if their so-called democratic decision-making were to work, the trans believers far outnumber anyone else. It's going to be a similar situation within Your Party.

Well if someone wanted to create a psych op to generate so much fear that they'd clear the States of many trans people, this is definitely how they'd do it. Where do these trans people think they should flee to? Afghanistan perhaps?

Leader of Herefordshire Green group claims party ban
Councillor Diana Toynbee says she has been banned from the party for her views on gender.
It's not my "imagination" that the Greens have kicked out an elected female councillor on Herefordshire Council (the leader no less!) because of her sex-realist views. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Except that the Greens care not one iota for women, kicking any of them out who don't genuflect at their altar of trans-identified men. So I'll add them, and unfortunately now, Your Party, to this list of uncaring political parties.

Your Party is officially dead. It just voted to constantly prioritise trans identifying men. It seeks to obliterate women's rights. 'Left wing' politics in this country is an absolute mess.

She did not *have to* travel to Dignitas, she chose to, having the resources & autonomy to do so. For the majority of people, we would prefer to choose better palliative care, but your ghoulish campaign is refusing us that choice. You are the saboteurs, not the Peers who are simply doing their job.

For anyone who cares about ensuring their loved ones can die with comfort & dignity, it makes for singularly depressing reading – key findings summarised in pics below.
But perhaps most depressing of all is the government’s response to the report, this glib one-liner from a spokesperson:

PFI didn’t just burden NHS trusts with huge debt, it trapped them in decades of overpriced maintenance contracts.
One trust was charged + £300 to change a lightbulb. Outrageous.
And now the gov is exploring PFI-style schemes again. Fight back with us: bit.ly/NHSandBudget

How is acknowledging deliberate editing bending over for "fascism"? Someone made a decision for whatever reason that portrayed something that did not represent the truth. It could (and has) easily been done to the left (i.e. Miner's Strike, Corbyn, etc.). It's wrong and should be apologised for.

Transwomen and transmen aren't "banned" from accessing sports: they're being asked to participate in the sport category that matches their birth sex. The female category was established because there has always been an imbalance between male and female strength and performance post-puberty.
