It's just very interesting that more than anything else so far, Amazing Spider-Man is eschewing the typical formula found in super hero stories. The collaboration with Ditko here seems to be bearing as much fruit as the collaboration with Kirby on the FF.
And while the second story has a more traditional villain in the Chameleon, the real foe here is still poverty and his negative public image. He tries to join the FF, but he's a wanted criminal and the Chameleon is able to manipulate him because he knows Peter needs money.
Joking aside, this issue contains two stories and the first is interesting in that it doesn't include a traditional villain. J Jonah Jameson is the antagonist, but there's no fight and no real direct confrontation. Instead Spidey is fighting the public's perception of him and poverty.

In Tales to Astonish #41, someone is kidnapping Earth's scientists...which seems to happen alarmingly frequently. It's an alien warlord, but he didn't reckon with the power of the Ant Man...who uses his ability to communicate with insect to defeat him. Hank Pym still has no personality.

I'm also reminded that critics complained that Iron Man 2 wasn't as relevant to the present day as the first movie had been, which I found ironic as the first movie was so closely based on a comic from 1963!
There's also a little tale of Vikings cursed to live on a nameless island for centuries that's technically canon to the Marvel Universe here, but it's standard silver age anthology fare with a very predictable twist.
There's more racism, of course, as the Vietnamese are literally yellow and some look like Mickey Rooney in Breakfast At Tiffany's. Also, there's no soul searching as Tony doesn't witness the harm his own weapons have caused here.
If you've seen the first Iron Man movie then Iron Man's origin won't have a lot of surprises for you, as the movie stuck quite close to the events of Tales Of Suspense #39...and that's a testament to the talents of Lee, Lieber and Heck. We're just in Vietnam rather than Afghanistan.
