I have been back and forth about reading this one. I love the tropes, but idk if Iβll like it if itβs not as spicy.

Man and a woman leaning on a black car in the desert. She is a redhead wearing scrubs and heβs got black hair and tattoos.
In love with the character art for my debut novel βAlligator Bloodβ! Itβs a spicy suspense you can read in a day (220pages) featuring a book obsessed ER nurse that gets carjacked/kidnapped by a tall, tatted gambler deep in debt.

In horror, I prefer the small shred of hope is fostered through a false sense of security and then shattered. I appreciate horror where it is hopeless. Evil isnβt as scary when thereβs a chance it can be defeated, but I like the characters to think they can before they accept their fates.

If I donβt have the funding to freeze myself, Iβd like to go with the Eternal Reef program where your ashes are turned into a structure and placed in the ocean to help rebuild the coral reef and give turtles a home. π

Nick Roberts is one of my all time fav horror authors! I also read Incidents Around the House, which was my first by that author and will probably read Daphne next. For a horror rec, try Seed by Ania Ahlborn

Love this book! Fun fact: this was the first movie ever that scared me. Iβve been chasing the thrill with horror movies ever since, but nothing tops that first scare.

I just ordered it so hopefully Iβll get around to reading it next week! I canβt wait to see what else she writes. I just finished my first Malerman book (Incidents Around the House) and I really liked it, so I might check out more. Scariest though - Nick Roberts.
