Sci-fi ships pile mass around reactors for radiation shielding, but that's heavy and costly for interstellar hauls. Avatar's ISV nails it. A long spindle separates the crew from the engines. Distance as a free shield.

I’m going to try the snowflake method; write a miniature version of the story (like an outline in narrative prose) and workshop it until I’m happy. 🙈 I’ll get there. Thanks for the encouragement!

I couldn’t find out a way to fix the plot hole so instead I wrote them as questions. I’ll mull it over for the next few weeks. Maybe mulling it in the background will help. Thanks!

I got 34k words in, and realised there are some plot holes with the very foundation of the story.

I feel a little stuck now. Do I try to salvage this or move onto another project and circle back?

Could not be more obvious how one-sided the discourse is.

Your best bet is to write offline on an old laptop completely disconnected from ALL internet access. That laptop will have some kind of transfer port for thumbdrives. No excuses. Don't let it 'talk' to the internet for any reason. Write there.

Has it actually helped you? I have heard mixed reviews about having a social media presence. But I assume the difference is marketing aptitude; ie. understanding market fit, customer segmentation, and creating a “funnel”.

Interesting how a lot of what we consider “us” is really just our physiology. I’ve often wondered how much of “me” is “me” and how much is my body and a personality I have negotiated with society since I was young.

A change in sexuality is a pretty crazy ego death. How are you handling it?

Having an ereader is great. Reading books is much better than doomscrolling.

Saw Turandot Act III at Sydney Opera House. I’m absolutely blown away. I had no idea what to expect with opera. The orchestra and singers were phenomenal. And the story was really good.
