Buy the Swedish Gripen, Canada. Itβs the only thing close in my mind of righting the wrong done to us by being coerced by you-know-who to abandon the Avro Arrow. Sovereignty. Independence. Diversity in the fleet (weβd still have some US planes) and jobs here in Canada.
If Iβve been paying attention, it seems that the messenger came in shooting.
One day in the 11th grade, a friend and I were sitting in the cafeteria, desperately trying to recall the name of the creatures from Land of the Lost. A year later, in the middle of a class, he spun around, pointed at me, and said, βSLEESTAKS.β This was our Google in the 80s.
Excerpt reads: "Prioritize your neighborhood Neighborhoods drive our happiness (or unhappiness) more than we think. When Lina Martinez, director of POLIS, the Center for Wellbeing Studies at Universidad Icesi in Colombia, studied the happiness of households in the city of Cali, she couldnβt find much difference between poorer and richer areas. βTheir happiness is pretty much the same,β she said. But that changed when she isolated neighborhood conditions, such as access to transit, health care and parks. βThe conditions of the neighborhood affect happiness,β she said. βI canβt link that to the space where [people] live.β That aligns with findings from a 2023 study of the Vancouver metro area: Researchers found no significant differences in well-being between people living in single detached homes, duplexes, townhouses, laneway houses and apartment buildings (basement units smaller than 300 square feet were the only negative exception). What did people say they missed most in their neighborhood? Affordability, proximity to family and friends, and a sense of community. Home design was eighth on the list."
A Washington Post article suggests that, beyond a certain threshold, larger homes don't make people happier. Instead, well-being is correlated with affordable housing in walkable neighborhoods where they feel socially connected.

Dear God. Heβs been impeached twice already. Maybe that word doesnβt mean what you think it means? Whereβs the smite?
Unreal, unbelievable and unnecessary.
tweet from Joyce Carol Oates @Joyce CarolOates not complaining but who among us asked to live in a world in which, on your phone, composing some message vaguely meant to be witty, you struggle several times to type out the word SWEEPSTAKES but each time the word vanishes & a wee little icon resembling a broom takes its place. 7:24 PM β’ 12/30/25 β’ 56K Views

In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes.
This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.
Iβm ashamed of my home province. It is behaviour like this; avoiding being part of national conversations that will keep New Brunswick a have-not. What a missed opportunity to contribute to Canadian democracy. SMH. It makes no sense. What am I missing?
As I just said on radio the more Pierre Poilievre complains about MP Carney travelling to meetings to leverage his global relationships the more Canadians get reminded of why we hired Carney in the first place - to hit the ground running in securing trade deals with trusted partners π¨π¦
They made it. You already watched it. Which was a violation. The timeline is restored. Thatβs all you need to remember.
