President Zelenskyy:

In three days, Middle Eastern countries have fired 800+ missiles for Patriot systems. Ukraine has never had so many missiles to defend against [Russian] strikes.

HUGE WIN for cleaner air, less traffic, and faster commutes in New York City!

A federal judge ruled that the Trump Administration does not have authority to end New York’s congestion pricing program, reinforcing what New Yorkers already know: congestion pricing is law and it's working.

I don't disagree. But the cost would be shorter summer evenings. Maybe a fair trade in your eyes, but the issue is that people have very different views on this. The compromise position is the current system.

fair enough. but it has served the purpose of balancing competing societal needs: not having super late winter mornings, while still preserving long summer evenings so that people can take advantage for recreation.

Maybe there’s a reason we started doing DST in the first place. It resolves this trade off between late winter mornings and longer summer evenings.

Yes. Epstein and war powers are actually hugely consequential globally.

this kind of editorializing and wish casting is what loses the Economist (and MSM in general) its credibility. Stick to the facts people!

odd that you didn't highlight @rokhanna.bsky.social ... who has been far more active and successful in pushing back than pretty much any other democrat πŸ€”

I think Ukraine needs this much more than Israel! And these guys have the gall to start a war and then come crying they need help.

it's really hard to come to any other conclusion from the last few years of geopolitics than countries need to get nuclear weapons asap and never make deals with Americans. the incentives are totally wrong from Ukraine to Russia to Korea to Libya to Iran. Sad.

this is what really makes ordinary people mad. The absolute inside dealing of "politics as usual" (rightly) breeds cynicism.

Ex-Meta lobbyist put in charge of EU's digital rules: 'Tech oligarchy writing its own rulebook' Pressure is growing to drop the appointment of a former Meta lobbyist, elected as an MEP in 2024, from a file which could rewrite the EU's regulation of US tech giants.

Like having an arsonist at a fire safety convention?

A former Meta chief lobbyist was appointed by the @eppgroup.bsky.social as rapporteur for a key digital law which critics say will benefit Big Tech.

Danish election campaign first poll:

- center left bloc almost has a majority; center right far from
- centrist government (like the current) is an option again
- social democrats do well (compared to recent polls, not comp w/ 2022 elections)
- liberals do poorly, general fragmentation on the right

The comms around this seem to have been bad, but it's not that unusual. Canada has the same rule.

Not clear how the Danish election will shake out! A reprise of the current government seems unlikely.

I suppose I should be grateful that the US didn't join Russia in voting against like last time. I note that Hungary also abstained, showing (again) that as long as Orban is in power it will be a very unreliable ally.

Getting the SCF right is going to be critical to the future of European climate policy. A lot of effort needs to be going into getting the implementation right this year. This is a very important event!
