On one side, road construction. He left SW VA because the only jobs were in the mines and he was claustrophobic.

On the other side, traffic manager for Seagrams. He put himself through college with jobs including gas station attendant and migrant farm worker. His degree was in organic chemistry.

It’s not that there are zero use cases for AI.

It’s that there are very, very few that justify the enormous expenditure of resources and rapacious exploitation of labor.

If this is what they do when they're out on the street with people pointing cameras at them, what do you think is happening inside the ICE prison camps that they keep denying Members of Congress access to?

My Crybaby story is that parts of it were filmed at the swimming pool we went to, and I was very upset by the fact that the pool was shut down for several days while filming took place.

Thankfully, almost all of the posts in the thread are super upset about it, and he is being pretty well roasted.

There’s a long, rambling post on a local Facebook group from someone purporting to be the designer trying to explain what theological point he was trying to make, but like…no.

It’s a K-8 school. This is the town my parents live in, and believe me, none of us are surprised.

I believe I speak for everyone over 40 when I say, β€œwhat the fuck is a labubu?”

They do! And I don’t know if they use that tagline in their ads anymore but it’s on their website.

There is a personal injury law firm in Baltimore called Saiontz & Kirk whose tagline is β€œIf you have a phone, you have a lawyer.” They did a ton of TV advertising when I was a kid. I thought that you had to have a lawyer to get a telephone.

Made the mistake of looking at my retirement accounts today. Should not have done that.

"Do we want to lose the country over defending trans people," is a deeply unserious question with only one right answer:

We either stand together and build a country worth defending... or we, deservedly, fall.

As an offshoot of this thread, let’s talk about what happens if federal, state, or local officials text, email, call, or show up at your door wanting to talk to you about what you said about the President.

I have a theme, a thesis, a throughline, a leitmotif, which is SHUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH.

I loved Target and would routinely drive out into the suburbs to get to one that didn’t lock everything up and I haven’t shopped there since the end of January. I think they gravely misunderstood who their customer base was.

This from Jill Filipovic sums it up for me:

"In the coming days there's gonna be a lot of opining about what the Harris campaign did wrong, but this election was not an indictment of Kamala Harris. It was an indictment of America."

Walz has become our desperately needed What The Hell Guy: the guy who says "What the hell?" to the press whenever Republicans do something bizarre or fucked up

β€œU.S. Archivist Colleen Shogan ordered removal of prominent references to the displacement of indigenous tribes and incarceration of Japanese-Americans…Visitors shouldn’t feel confronted, a senior official told employees, they should feel welcomed.”

The reckoning really was just that one summer.

You can get this through Montgomery County too, and any Maryland resident can get a card there.

This is so deeply fucked up from the newspaper that added "Democracy Dies in Darkness" to their masthead in February 2017.

I really do not feel I was adequately prepared for how much Nazis would play a part in my adult life. Hearing about Nazis, reading about Nazis, seeing pictures of Nazis, here a Nazi, there a Nazi, everywhere a fucking Nazi.

I am extremely tired of having to think about Nazis.

She has great name recognition in that area. When I saw she was running I immediately remembered her from when I was in high school and college in the late 90s.
