Who You Gonna Call? Not 911 on BC’s Central Coast | The Tyee Despite the province's push for better emergency management, much of the coast lacks emergency calling capacity.

Soy fucking slaps.
It’s a bit funny to see the (full of shit) narrative that started anti-Asian (ew, people who eat soy are weird!), then anti-women (ew, this food will feminize you!) is now creeping into the health realm where it’s being rebranded as a high-protein boost. Patriarchy is so silly

I’m not sure. I bet they’d request them, but whether or not they’d get access is another issue.

Chief coroner’s statement on Tumbler Ridge Dr. Jatinder Baidwan, chief coroner, has released the following statement regarding the decision to direct an inquest into the events that occurred in Tumbler Ridge on Feb. 10, 2026:

BC Coroners Service will direct an inquest into the Tumbler Ridge shooting. Dates tbd. This will be heavy and sad but I’m glad they’re doing this. Inquests are a great way to review what happened and find lessons amongst the tragedy

Yes! I have a couple friends who are nurses and it was always an incredible headache for them as they had to swap everyone’s med schedules over twice a year. Shoutout to all the caretakers who will have it a bit easier after this final change

Fun fact part of this change is a middle finger to the US.
BC previously said β€˜we’ll ditch the time change once our US neighbours do.” Then Trump 2.0 came in.
Now BC says: "Recent actions from the U.S. have shifted how B.C. approaches decisions that merit alignment, including on time zones."

BC is ditching Daylight Saving Time after springing forward one more time. I am SO EXCITED for this.
Losing or gaining an hour is super dangerous and car crashes/ heart attacks and strokes jump when it happens. Also, think of nurses keeping patients on meds schedules tied to meal times.

Any lawyers out there who could comment on if this protest art project (dumping gravel on the road to encourage people to follow the 40 km/h speed limit) could have legal consequences? I could see a charge of mischief maybe, but I am very much not a lawyer.

I complain about CBC, because it’s not perfect, and fair criticism is allowed and appropriate. But seriously, thank God for CBC in Canada. It needs to be protected.

Kansas Sends Letters To Trans People Demanding The Immediate Surrender Of Drivers Licenses "The legislature did not include a grace period."

Kansas sent letters to all trans people in state letting them know as of Thursday they no longer have a driver's lisence. No appeal possible, no grace period. A new driver's lisence must have their assigned sex at birth.
What. The. Actual. Fuck. America.

I am close to carrying a neon-painted crowbar around with me everywhere. If your car comes close enough for me to hit you, you drove way too fucking close to me. Or maybe a stick with lots of sticky paint on it. Again, keep the legal one metre away from me and your car paint will be fiiiine.

It blows my mind that anyone could ban this book. I guess some man read it and was scared that it could teach little girls how to use his ego against him? Give this book to all little kids, share it widely.

What!!?!?! That is so cool! How do they not cook? They must be really skilled at judging water temperature and hanging out in the sweet spot between boiling alive and freezing to death. Nature is so dang cool. Thank you! This is amazing

Susan you can’t drop that super cool fact on me without backing it up. I have so many questions. What kind of tropical fish? What is it doing up there? What happens when it snows, does the fish dream of its once-tropical ancestors and the warm winters of yore?

Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park
Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park YouTube video by GovernmentofBC

Hi hi, here to share this absolutely beautiful video made by BC Parks about Liard River Hot Springs. No jump scare, no forest fires or jarring human impact. Just… really pretty. And six minutes long! It’s incredible.

I will add that it’s good to see the annual death toll going down. Every death avoided is a universe preserved. But I am afraid that deaths will go back up as BC moves towards criminalizing drug use, ending decriminalization and funding involuntary treatment while voluntary treatment is inaccessible

20.02.2026 20:56 πŸ‘ 10 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

When the government regulates drugs it chooses which ones people can safely access and which drugs will be provided by an unregulated market. Prohibition allows unregulated markets to thrive. This is a policy choice. If the war on drugs worked it would have been won by now.

More than 19,053 British Columbians have been killed since 2014, when fentanyl started being added to the unregulated drug supply.
This is the first time since 2020 that less than 2,000 people per were killed.
The death toll of this crisis is absolutely staggaring. Catestrophic. Horrific. Terrifying

BC Coroners Service shares 2025 data into unregulated drug-toxicity deaths According to preliminary data, 1,826 people have lost their lives in 2025 due to unregulated drug toxicity, as reported by the BC Coroners Service.

1,826 British Columbians were killed in 2025 after being poisoned by an unregulated toxic drug supply. Regular users and first timers alike are at risk of being killed because the supply is so potent and unpredictable, which is why it’s often referred to as β€œtoxic.”

BC Halts Construction of Seven Long-Term Care Facilities | The Tyee The province has to find a way to build beds for less, Health Minister Josie Osborne says.

β€œThis is only going to get worse unless we build the infrastructure needed,” says BC Seniors Advocate Dan Levitt. More than 7,200 seniors are waiting an average of 9.5 months for a bed in BC. This impacts hospitals, senior’s health, families caring for loved ones

BC pauses construction on seven new long-term care facilities. The minister says BC needs to figure out how to build for less than $1.8 million per bed. Saving money is good, but there’s an enormous need for these beds now.
