After much reflection, I’ve decided to share my experience of leading Karwaan and offer my perspective on the ongoing debate surrounding public history. Here’s what I think: www.karwaanheritage.com/post/bridgin...

I am looking for friends / mentors who can guide me with my PhD applications!
Shyam Babu, thank you for everything!
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Shri Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition, Lok Sabha, for his gracious letter and kind words regarding the work we have been doing at Karwaan Heritage over the past five years to make history more accessible to people. It is truly a great honor.
I wonder what Raj Kapoor would have done if Modi had invited him for a photo-op. I believe he would have turned down the invitation.
Payal Kapadia has made history as the first Indian director to be nominated for Best Director at the prestigious Golden Globes. These accolades for her debut feature are just the beginning; she is undoubtedly poised to achieve even greater milestones in the years ahead.
All We Imagine As Light receiving a Golden Globe nomination—and its numerous past and upcoming recognitions worldwide—serves as a sharp rebuke to the Film Federation of India, including its Chairman, for their monumental error in not selecting the film as India’s official entry to the Oscars.

On 24th Nov 2024, I co-led All We Imagine As Bombay with Payal Kapadia, a karwaan heritage walk inspired by her film ‘All We Imagine As Light’. Set in Lower Parel, once Bombay’s mill hub, we traced stories of labor, migration, chawls, and gentrification. Don’t miss her film—it’s in cinemas now!
Friendships come in three shades: those born of necessity, those of convenience, and those we nurture with love and care—only the last truly light up our lives.
I am trying my luck everywhere to get access to Payal’s film A Night Of Knowing Nothing.
Happy ‘All We Imagine As Light’ Day to All. Don’t forget to watch the film at your nearest cinema hall.
How many of these do we have?
Watched it multiple times already at different film festivals and will watch it again in theatres. This is a film that we all should support wholeheartedly. This is a hope for ‘acche din’ of Indian Cinema. The tickets are now available on BookMyShow.
SCMS Board expresses concern over cuts at Academy Film Archive & Margaret Herrick Library. These cuts risk compromising film preservation, research, and documentation of Hollywood's history. We urge AMPAS to reaffirm its commitment to preserving global film history. Full letter: bit.ly/3OfUWX1
I still remember that day long ago, you looked away but I saw you crying for me. Sayonara you said, my love. The morning came, you left and ivory flower- my lone memory of you. I walk alone still hoping to find you, the flower the blooms inside of my heart. I walk alone still hoping to find you…
Heading to Bombay to lead this very special heritage walk with Payal Kapadia, inspired by her film 'All We Imagine As Light'. I am very excited for this one.
I am super confused about my PhD application. Indian universities (specially state univ) do not prepare us for a PhD abroad. I plan to do it in South Asian Studies + Cinema in the US. Would really love some guidance from seniors here on the procedure.
In India, few filmmakers dare to embrace true experimentation and create prayog ka cinema, but Ashish Avikunthak undoubtedly stands as a pioneer in this realm. His latest film, Devastated, is being showcased at the Kolkata International Film Festival, and I’m looking forward to watching it soon.
A Beautiful Poster of Aag (1948). The film marked the debut of Kapoor as producer and director and was the first film produced by his R.K. banner. A man obsessed over two things: the theatre and a childhood friend, recounts his story to his new bride.

Durga is now really gone. Rest in Peace, Uma Das Gupta. Durga of Pather Panchali. It is impossible to forget the mesmerising frames of this film, masterfully captured by #SatyajitRay and Subrata Mitra.
