#Kilkenny flattened by Galway tonight in the national #hurling league
@belfastcitizen
All opinions my own, west Belfast resident, middle-aged, middle class, worried by the alarming lack of action on the global environmental polycrisis that will destroy my kid’s future. Intrigued by but not always agreeing with John “Straw Dogs” Gray.

#kilkenny are having a nightmare in the national #hurling league
Just announced: Iceland has urgently moved up its referendum to join the European Union - to 29 August.
A reminder: 🇮🇸 is in many ways already a non-voting 🇪🇺 member because of the EEA. This would give them voting power to shape the laws they have to follow.

I’ve written to the Education Authority and the Education Minister about the shocking, long running failure to fix Rosetta Primary School’s unsafe hall and wider estate.
This isn’t just about one school, it's a wider failure to maintain school buildings across NI and a failure to invest.
Good craic last night at Lamh Dearg with Neil McManus, Anthony Daly & Liam Sheedy chatting about #hurling, the future of #hurling and why the GAA should ditch Allianz as sponsors of the National League. Too much vitamin G is not good for the old noggin though. 😶🌫️
www.theguardian.com/global-devel... Makes you wonder how vulnerable Northern Ireland is? Is it somewhat insulated because it physically borders the EU? Is there food insecurity in the Republic too?
To all those Tory/Deform carpet chewers ranting about the UK not taking part in the bombathon in the Middle East, think of it as wartime austerity, cutting unnecessary spending on single-use public sector munitions and promoting fiscal prudence.

"We need to keep our children hungry, and in poverty, so we can kill children in other countries" is some policy.

Heat pump sales rose 11% in 2025 across 16 European countries, with 2.63 million units sold.
Twelve countries saw growth, largely where subsidy schemes were stabilised and electricity costs addressed.
Policy certainty and energy levies & taxation are proving decisive.
One of the consequences of #brexit for Northern Ireland, well played #reform 👏

"U.S. military investigators believe it is likely that U.S. forces were responsible for an apparent strike on an Iranian girls' school."
"The strike would rank among the worst cases of civilian casualties in decades of U.S. conflicts in the Middle East."
Another one bites the dust…
Excellent article: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... I must admit to feeling a little smug as I eat lunch outside in the early spring warmth of Belfast. But then I’m waiting to hear if I’ll be redundant next month, so I’m not that smug.
@notayesmansecon.bsky.social thank you for your daily report, it’s very interesting. Are you able split out a line for geothermal energy at all? Probably too insignificant yet…
Middle East crisis live: Israeli military tells hundreds of thousands to flee Beirut www.theguardian.com/world/live/2... This is insanity!!! Are they trying for a land grab in southern Lebanon. www.theguardian.com/politics/202... Foreign political interference, this tax exile must be barred from donating to any political party. He is a neo-liberal fatcat.
When the powerful speak of a ‘rules-based international order’, they mean rules for others, and impunity for themselves.
All human life has equal value, which is why we need an ethical foreign policy based on cooperation, justice and peace.
