It’s too easy to go to war
“the cost of gas doubling is a small price to pay” is an incredibly funny thing to say as the head of a political movement that in many ways is still built on a nationwide psychosis triggered by having to go about four weeks without a haircut six years ago.
I know I'm old now because when someone asks how I'm doing I tell them the truth without mercy
Several things are true about 2024. Biden left Harris in an absurd position. A 100 day campaign is all but doomed from the get-go. Harris also faced considerable racism and sexism that sucks. AND ALSO, the campaign made a clear decision to appeal to the middle over the left, and that failed.
I think the truly damning thing about the Dem comms response is that they had months to prepare for today and there's zero coordination, no unified message. Just every D leader responding like they quickly hammered out a statement in a panic at 6 am this morning
I'm truly a dum dum.

I'm reluctantly awake. I hate it.
Today it's trans Kansans. Tomorrow it's whoever else doesn't fit the mold of the current administration.
Either we all have the right to exist in public life, or none of us do.
And here's what history keeps trying to teach you: when a government tests how far it can push one marginalized group, it's never really about just that group. It's about seeing what the rest of us will tolerate.
What we'll normalize.
What we'll let slide.
you're allowed to be. It should be what THEY deem is correct.
This is happening right now in Kansas no grace period, no transition plan, just a demand to surrender your license immediately, or face fines and imprisonment. All so they can hand you back another "license".
Now you are receiving a letter telling you that key is being taken away. Not because you did anything wrong. Not because you pose any risk. But because lawmakers decided your identity doesn't match their definition of who
A driver's license isn't just a plastic card in your wallet. It's how you prove who you are to your employer, to your landlord, to the bank, to the hospital, to any organization that requires an ID.
It's the key that unlocks a job, an apartment, a loan, medical care. To VOTE!
If you need a statewide example look at every fucking reservation in the country.
Did you think you could never be marginalized?
As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. It’s often said you never know when you’re living through history, so let me assure you: that’s what’s happening now.
"more devoted to 'order' than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice"
What does it tell voters, who have said unequivocally we want fighters, that you sit & silently witness your own humiliation? If you will not fight for yourselves, are we to believe you will for us?
The state of my house when there's an illness in one parent overlapping with a work week for both parents is abominable. And it actively crushes my morale.
I'm not entirely sure how they did it, but they've completely cleared the streets around my office in Midtown #NYC.
They paid a lot of people good wages to do the job effectively, thank you for coming to my socialism talk
Henceforth, I will be describing the way that U.S. men’s hockey spectacularly squandered good will, brand recognition, and fan loyalty as “pulled a Target.”
They pulled a Target.
People born in the 2000s will never understand a nation once so innocent that an ice skater kneecapping another ice skater sent us into an existential crisis.

Your words are really beautiful. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
Feeling v sorry for myself as I come down with a bad chill & body aches...Crying over this thread in anticipatory grief for my 15yo pup, Raleigh St. Clair, who is still mobile, seeks pets and company, eats full meals, etc....When my youngest pup, Olive, the empath, tried to curl up on my chest. 😭😭
So through the tears, I will feed the birds and plant the flowers and remember him in every blade of grass. I’ll add to his stick pile just in case. And I will try to find the joy for both of us. I love you, Larry, and I miss you so much.
Then winter arrived and our backyard sat smooth, no paw prints punching the snow. When the wind howled, I could say, Well, Larry would have hated this. But now the spring approaches and the sun baked yard awaits, and I know he would have loved it.
For My Dog, Larry
In the summer, deep in grief, I didn’t think of much at all. As the flowers you watched me plant bloomed, I cut clippings to put in tiny vases by your photo. When the fall came and the leaves plastered the sidewalks of our neighborhood, I did not walk them.
