The 2025 BRICS summit will take place in #Brasil, an ICC member state. If Putin ends up joining the summit, we'll have no one to blame but ourselves.
International law rarely has teeth, but ICC arrest warrants clearly do. Recently, #Poland, #France, #USA (on Netanyahu), #Mongolia and #Mexico (on Putin) have been blunting these teeth. It also proves right those who accuse #Europe of hypocrisy and question our dedication to international law.
These 125 countries have a legal duty to arrest anyone wanted by the ICC. This is a thorn in the side of Putin and #Netanyahu as these travel restrictions undermine their legitimacy on the global stage. Putin must have felt embarrassed to be excluded from the #BRICS summit in #SouthAfrica in 2023.

The #ICC can prosecute individuals for #genocide, #warcrimes, crimes against humanity, and aggression (invading another country). In accordance with its global fight to end impunity, state leaders enjoy no immunity. Its mandate stems from the Rome Statute, currently ratified by 125 states (see map).
Another step back for peace and justice. Poland's decision to shirk its legal responsibility to the International Criminal Court not only disappoints the victims of Netanyahu's actions. It also bolsters the confidence of other rogues like #Putin that their crimes will go unpunished. Why? Read on ⬇️
