Fresh install at the Kalmit station! 🎉
Our newest node is now up and running at this key background site of the UNICORN network. Excited to see clean background data rolling in from the Palatine mountaintop. 🌄

☀️New node up in Mannheim Sandhofen Pumpwerk 🚿
It marks the furthest north node of the UNICORN network.
Thanks to the Pumpwerk team and City of Mannheim for great support!
#ClimateAction #TrackingEmissions
WMO’s GAW programme put together guidelines to help cities better measure and track their greenhouse gas emissions. Proud to have contributed as a chapter lead author to this global community effort.

📢 New node at the Heidelberg City Library! 📚
We’ve just installed the eighth CO₂ sensor of the UNICORN network. The city center station completes the Heidelberg network. Mannheim, we are coming 🎡
Thanks to City of Heidelberg and the library for full support!
🦄Meet the UNICORN Team: Kenneth Murai von Buenau
Kenneth is conducting his master’s thesis with UNICORN setting-up a 10m resolution transport model for Heidelberg and Mannheim to link emissions to CO2 measurements. His work will be fundamental to determine emissions from the measurements.
Thanks to all the people helping us build UNICORN up. Great to feel your support, Stadt Heidelberg, Smart City Mannheim, PH Heidelberg Abt. Geographie, Collegium Academicum and @uniheidelberg.bsky.social!
🦄 The UNICORN CO₂ network is growing! 🚨
Red dots = installed sensors
Blue dots = confirmed locations coming soon 🌍
We’re building an urban network in Heidelberg and Mannheim of atmospheric CO₂ - one node at a time.
Stay tuned… the first data is coming in soon! 📊✨
🦄Meet the UNICORN Team: Ralph
Kleinschek
With a strong background in optics and
engineering, Ralph Kleinschek oversees
the technical development of the
UNICORN network. His work is crucial
in translating research needs into
robust, field-ready measurement
systems.
🦄 Meet the UNICORN Team: Prof. Dr. André Butz
@abutz.bsky.social leads UNICORN with a focus on spectroscopic
techniques and novel instruments.
André fosters collaborative research across disciplines.
