This isn't good.
AHRQ Funding Opportunities for Primary Care, Demonstration and Dissemination, and Health Services Research cancelled.
A reminder that #AHRQ, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, is the only part of HHS strictly dedicated to studying and improving health care delivery.

as the facct rebuttal period is in session, let me repeat what i've always said: critique is service! identifying & mapping the problem space is in & of itself a legitimate scientific contribution. we canβt proceed to βsolveβ a problem if we don't have a clear & comprehensive understanding of it

Weβve also had different specialists make action plans for common situations, eg because respiratory infections are frequent. (This turned into an info dump, and I apologize if Iβm missing what you needed. Iβve learned too many lessons the hard way, which motivated me to err toward oversharing.) 4/4

I also learned a lot from asking after ED visits, Did we make the right decision to come in? What are the signs you would look for that would indicate the need to come in? eg, this helped me hone understanding of signs of respiratory distress, which is an automatic ED visit. 3/4

Sometimes itβs available by text on their website or patient portal, but usually by phone. Virtual immediate care is also useful in this regard. Iβm realizing I donβt have a good understanding of accessibility of these options. 2/4

Iβm father to a medically complex and disabled child (countless doctor visits), but I was also raised as a Christian Scientist (very few doctor visits growing up). So, my barometer for visiting doctor is oddly developed. Our health systemβs nurse consulting service has served us well re:triage. 1/4

Two favorite books I read this year: Amatka by Karin Tidbeck made me think hard (fearfully?) about limits to my ability to imagine different ways of being; A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers (and the other three books in the series) expanded my ability to imagine hopeful futures.

i would again like to remind everyone that NEGATING A FRAME REINFORCES IT
"he's not really targeting criminals" makes it an argument about criminality
"this is a fascist attack" states what is actually happening
START WITH WHAT IT IS
not what it isn't

Alice Wong taught us that disabled people donβt just leave memories behindβthey leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collectivity, survival. She named the connective tissue that holds our communities together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast and too often.

Why Shame No Longer Works in American Politics
While it once played a role in binding society, shame has lost its powerβand so have the liberal tools that depend on it.
"And yet TΓ‘ΓwΓ²βs own position misses something fundamental about the world we now inhabit. Shame does not operate in a vacuum...today, the sturdy ground that once formed shameβs foundation has collapsed."
