There has never been an official, comprehensive record of Black-owned bookstores across the United States — until now

Just because Talarico didn’t say white doesn’t mean he didn’t use identity politics. Leaning into Christianity is identity politics and that always has a connection to whiteness. Just like how his supporters can use “aggressive” to describe Rep Crockett.

Being disappointed in the Texas results? Understandable.

But being surprised? …idk about that one, friend.

I know the basic outlines of Jesse Jackson's life, but whenever I read about him I come away feeling like I don't know nearly enough.

And that's definitely by design. His impact on American history has been systematically minimized and downplayed by "mainstream" (white) culture for my entire life.
