Yeah, it was definitely a "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" type of night.

I agree. While there's always some chance they could become buyers or sellers, I think they'll primarily be renting out cap space for draft capital this deadline. It'll probably look a lot like last year.

Spent an hour cataloging current taxpaying teams, identifying a few contracts they might want to move to reduce/escape the tax, & their 2ndRP situation. Isn't that what everybody does on a gorgeous, sunny Saturday afternoon?
Any thoughts for potential Jazz deals?
Stealth buyer
Space renter
Some limited selling could come from renting space, but not anything really meaningful IMO
I expected something 5 minutes long, not this. They put the hours in.
Oh yeah? Do you live down there, or was a weekend road trip like ours?
Our latest tracker after a two-game Texas weekend. Still more than half of the NBA's arenas to go, and by the time we finish, there's a good chance there will be two new expansion franchises.
Where was this advice before we sold/donated hundreds (literally) of cookbooks from my mom's house?
Nets lose.
Hornets lose.
Kings lose.
Pelicans lose.
Clippers & Mavericks are playing the "somebody has to win" game of the night. Tied up with 1:24 left.
You went as me for Halloween!
The Utah Jazz tipped off the first extended road trip of the year with a short flight to the Valley of the Sun. They departed fairly early for such a short flight, arriving in Phoenix early enough to enjoy today's 89ยฐ temps. No jacket required!
Jazz-Suns Friday/Halloween night.
This is getting ugly. Love & Anderson probably hiding in the tunnel at this point.
I'll have to go back and watch it! I fell asleep at halftime & missed the first few minutes of the quarter.
Ace Bailey winding up from long distance and nailing that three pointer just earned my first loud clap.of the season.
Just like Tuesday, I was just popping in to watch the last 6 minutes of a Thunder game.
Fool me once....
I didn't even think about this last night, but the Jazz took the short hop from Houston to San Antonio after the loss to the Rockets.
Jazz @ Spurs Friday in the Alamo City.
The start of the regular season always feels like Christmas to me.
In contrast, the start of preseason feels like Christmas Eve, when we were allowed to open one gift, but it was always the new pajamas.
It was still fun to open something, but it wasn't the best stuff.
It's that time again!
It's the first flight of the (pre)season, as the Utah Jazz fly to Houston for tomorrow's game against the Rockets.
I'm not any of those people, but it's an Exhibit 10 deal. *Most* players who sign those get waived, then join the team's G-League affiliate, so that's the most likely outcome. He could have a chance to make the squad if another player is waived or traded.
If he doesn't get an offer, the Jazz could still waive him without a buyout, or they could open the season with him on the roster.
If he remains on the roster, does he come to camp? Or do they let him stay home pending a later buyout or trade?

Goodbye, KJ Martin. We hardly knew you.
Barring a larger, roster-altering move, there's one decision left: what to do with Kevin Love.
If a decent team had offered him a minimum contract, he'd already be gone, so apparently that hasn't happened. Could still happen this week.

We really like it, along with the 2nd season of Discovery where this Captain Pike debuted.
I have a couple of notes on the current season 3, but overall, great Trek IMO.
You've been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who's coming to save you?
Yeah, Love doesn't bring that alone at this point. Some chance if they send him out & take care of a salary/tax/apron problem for someone, but the longer it goes on, it gets more & more unlikely.
Music (just the intro tunes on the podcast format) & the spoken word from @danclayt0n.bsky.social, @markrussellpereira.bsky.social & me.
Check us out here, on YouTube, or your preferred pod app for a robust discussion of Jazz players who intrigue us, as well as a brief history of 1-time All-Stars.
KJ will most likely be gone. Sarah said as much last week. It just makes sense to hang on to him just in case he could be useful in a trade.
I may or may not have been making fake trades with Love & Springer last night, since him sitting was a surprise move.
I think they'll both be gone. But I thought Svi would be waived as well, so what do I know?
Kyle Filipkowski spinning to the hoop for his 29th & 30th points just earned my first loud clap of the game.
(Loud claps are relatively rare in July.)
I'm still skeptical about him lasting past July 25, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. I've personally seen enough.
I'll quit scouring the video then.
