I honestly think it’s a distinction without a difference. Vaccine hesitant parents are swimming in the same socially-led information/misinformation environment as the fierce anti-vaxxers. And the solution isn’t more information (it’s not an info deficit problem).

I used to rock and roll all night. And party ev-er-y day. Then it was every other day. Now I’m lucky if I can find half and hour a week in which to get funky.

having written about how banning web scrapers from a code forge i host made it usable again and saved ~60€/y in power bill, let me tell you:

you cannot fathom the offloaded cost of GenAI on small web hosts. it is a veritable distributed denial of service to the entire web. Every web admin sees it.

I'm still on my first cup of coffee and processing the news itself, so can't quite get my head around what Polymarket is saying here: Is it that Iranians should be monitoring Polymarket to see if their children will be murdered the next day?

Every time I go visit my mom she offers me the stack of COBAL and
FORTRAN books in her basement. Maybe next visit I should grab them.

As a 2016 UT Austin PhD grad, the speed of the deliberate dismantling of this public university is stunning. I wasn’t naive about Texas politics but still. Damn.

Ok - IANAL just trying to make sense of what I’ve read so far. I am not a Black voter obviously but I am a former Texan and I think it’s pretty obvious the dem establishment has once again decided to go with a more β€œmainstream” white man than the stronger candidate in Crockett.

From what I understand the field of declared candidates is 8 people - depending on how you interpret the policy it could apply to all of them.

Tyler Austin Harper on twitter:

I’ve spent the last year working on a story about the Mellon Foundation, the mega-wealthy private nonprofit that has a monopoly on humanities funding in America. The article, about how Mellon has held the humanities hostage to its progressive political ideology, is out today.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.
