Text reads “Guards at Alligator Alcatraz are wearing these Neo-Nazi patches” and shows an image of the grim reaper riding on an alligator skeleton. Below the skeleton are two human skulls, similar to the Totenkopf or death's head that the Nazis who ran and guarded German WWII concentration camps had on their SS uniforms. The death's head imagery is still used by Neo-Nazis and white supremacists. The guard we spoke to said a number of the guards wore the patches on their uniforms while on duty.
According to a former Alligator Alcatraz guard, multiple guards wear this patch while on duty inside.
The former guard gave the patch to an elderly protester, who was wearing the uniform of a Nazi concentration camp prisoner outside of Alligator Alcatraz, where he had just been fired from his job.
